Kid I work with gets a $100 water/sewer bill every month.

Monthly use is 8000 gallons for two people. Is that normal? That breaks down to 267 Gallons per day.

I'd like to add that his landlord actually gets the bill puts his name on it and has him pay it because it is technically illegal for the landlord to put city water/sewer in the tenants name.

He's probably paying for irrigation , or washes his car alot , or there is a major leak somewhere . Is it a duplex or some other nonsence?

Does that sound right to you?

There is something rotten in Denmark.

ETA:  Mr. google just told me that national average is 106 gal/day/person.  So if they shower a lot or water yards etc.  It may be legit. But I'm still very skeptical.

I pay 35 bucks a month for h20/sewer, My mother pays 135 per month.

I have 3 kids and use much more water then her.

We live 40 miles apart here in Pa.

If he was growing that much he wouldn't care about a measly 100 dollar water bill.

That's on the high side for two people.  Does he water his lawn?  If so, how often?  How often does he wash a vehicle?

Are you sure that's gallons?  Or is it cubic feet?  $100 is high for 8000 gallons, at least compared to our rates.  That'd be about a $35-40 bill here.

You can very easily check for a leak.  Turn off all water-using items on the property and see if the meter is still moving.

Does not water lawn or wash car. Meter reads 1318 last 1326 now in thousands of gallons. I wish I could scan the document to show you all the service charges and maintenance fees he says are on every bill.

Our pricing is probably close to what you posted.

We pay $40.67 even if we never turn the water on.  That's right...just being a customer incurs a $40.67 charge.  This amount gives you your first 3000 gallons of usage, but NO GALLONS of sewer.  Then...after the ass-raping, we are charged $3.48/1000 gallons for usage, and another $3.82/1000 gallons for sewer.

Since no sewer gallons are included in the minimum bill, to actually use 3000 gallons, it costs $52.13.  Every 1000 gallons used after 3000 costs us $7.30 ($3.48+$3.82).   After 7000 gallons of usage, the rate drops a little, but I forgot to write that down the day i called them.

To use 8000 gallons here, your bill would be $88.63.  Total bullshit...I know...

I have a family of three and I can go through 30,000 gallons in a month without much effort.

Showers, baths, lawns, cars, toilets, etc.  No problem.

ETA:  I have a tenant - family of two, used 16K average.

My wife and I are paying about 30 bucks a months for water and our sewer bill is about 230 every quarter. So we are paying just over $100 every month for the two of us.

If they take a lot of long showers it adds up quick

Also check the faucets

If the restrictors have been pulled out they will
use a lot more water in hand washing etc.
