Do you carry extra mags? I usually only carry my Kel-Tec P-11, when I carry the XD45 sometimes I srtrap on the x-tra mags.

[#1]
0 to 2 depending on the CCW rig, always 1 when OC.
8/30/2009 7:16:11 AM EDT
[#2]
I carry a revolver, so no magazines.  I don't carry a reload though, to answer your question.  Not something I've ever felt a need to do.

[#3]
In before the 4 mag, 90 round minimum, have it and not need it, attacked by gangs, not die for lack of rounds, no one in a gunfight ever complained of having too many crowd.

[#4]
Anywhere from 1-4 extra mags.
8/30/2009 7:28:39 AM EDT
[#5]
1 extra.
8/30/2009 7:30:05 AM EDT
[#6]
I don't fell a need to carry extra magazines.
8/30/2009 7:31:02 AM EDT

depends on where i am going.   the bigger the place, more likely im gonna carry an extra mag in the pockets

Nope.

Sure more is better, but remember some of the people who answer yes are fat asses who don't train, and carry mouse guns.

normally 1 extra magazine (SIG P228).  I'm about to go hiking, so I have 2 extras right now.
8/30/2009 7:32:32 AM EDT
[#10]
Glock 19: 1 or 2 G17 mags.

Model 60: one speedloader.
8/30/2009 7:33:49 AM EDT
[#11]
P32 spare mag in the 5th pocket.
8/30/2009 7:34:30 AM EDT
[#12]
Mdl 640, one speed strip.  Haven't changed since this question was asked last week.

[#13]
Depends. Since moving here, I OC my S&W m637 38 spl, as it's light, comfortable, and doesn't draw ANY attention when OC'ing. Given the environment here, I don't find carrying a reload necessary honestly. Also, no matter how much i practice, i have just never gotten all that fast at using the speed loader, so i don't think it would help much anyways.

when i used to carry my 1911 90% of the time, i did carry a spare mag, mainly because my holster had a spot for it.

obviously, YMMV depending on where you live, as I'm in small town WY, so what is good here, may not be good elsewhere.

Certainly better to have a reload on hand, than need one and not have it, and its not like 1 mag adds much weight, so...

[#14]
I carry 3 extra magazines.

This. There's no one right answer....I wouldn't go to Somalia with a 5-shot .38 and no reloads, like I wouldn't carry 10 mags in a chest rig when going to a farm in Illinois.

Sometimes I carry an extra mag for my Kahr.  On the rare times I'm carrying my G19 or XD45compact I almost always carry one.  I figure if I'm gonna carry a bigger gun, I might as well do it right.

Usually though, if I'm going to carry something extra it's going to be a two-shot Kimber O.C. thingy.

Depends on the gun, and how deeply concealed I'm looking for.
8/30/2009 8:38:22 AM EDT
[#23]
I always carry a spare mag, when carrying a semi auto, regardless of that pistols capacity!

[#24]
I carry at least one extra mag.
8/30/2009 9:14:27 AM EDT
[#25]
Um...with my USP compact I carry no extra mag...

with the Kahr PM9 I do.
8/30/2009 9:17:14 AM EDT
[#26]
One extra mag.  Not because I feel I need the extra ammo (G19) but because there are some problems that a fresh mag is the best solution.
8/30/2009 9:21:46 AM EDT
[#27]
G19 always one extra mag at a minimum.

Everyone should always carry at least one extra, mags can go bad.
8/30/2009 9:25:36 AM EDT
[#28]
Yes I carry extra mags.  And if I carried a Kel-Tec I'd carry an extra gun as well.
8/30/2009 9:29:11 AM EDT
[#29]
g17 w/17 rd mag and 3 spare 17 rd mags

Not 21 yet, but I plan on carrying one or two extra mag(s) somehow.

My dad carries one extra as well.

I try to carry one extra.  I just put it in my pocket.
8/30/2009 10:01:57 AM EDT
[#32]
1911 no extra mags.
8/30/2009 10:05:56 AM EDT
[#33]
Nope

19rds of 9mm should do the trick
8/30/2009 10:14:07 AM EDT
[#34]
1 extra USP Compact (8rd) mag
8/30/2009 10:18:03 AM EDT
[#35]
Nope. I carry a 23 and if I want to take out multiple threats without even pulling the trigger all I do is throw it in the center of the threat. KABOOM!
8/30/2009 10:23:37 AM EDT
[#36]
Depends on what i'm wearing.  If i'm in jeans, then no, cargo pants/shorts, yes.  I carry a G19 or G26, so the fat magazines dont do well in flat jeans pockets like a 1911 or other single stack mag would.
8/30/2009 10:25:51 AM EDT
[#37]

At a minimum I carry one but usually I'm carrying 2 additional magazines for my G17... I wouldn't consider leaving the house without an extra mag!

I hope you never need the extra mag and hit all your targets with only one attacker at a time.

+1.
I have 8+1 in the gun, (PSP)
And one extra 8 round mag.

[#41]
depends on what I am wearing.  I do not have a mag pouch, and I cannot stand to carry an extra mag in my back pocket.  It makes my ass fall asleep.

If I am wearing cargo pants, then yes I will carry a spare.
8/30/2009 1:13:25 PM EDT
[#42]
One extra on my person, two in the truck, 100 rounds in the glovebox.
8/30/2009 1:21:18 PM EDT
[#43]
I usually carry a g19 and sometimes an xd45 compact.  no spare mags are carried on my person, but I keep a spare mag or 3 in my truck.  Maybe i'll make a kydex spare mag carrier or 2 for my g19 along with a 1911 holster and spare mag carrier for that.

Sometimes, but not always. Depending on the capacity of my gun I'm carrying. The lower the capacity, the more likely I am to carry a spare. When it's my G19 w/ 15+1 I might not carry a spare.

[#46]
In the warmer months, when I just carry my pocket gun (S&W 442), I carry two extra Safariland speedloaders.

All other times, I just carry an extra gun - the aforementioned 442. (Current primary carry is a P7 in a CrossBreed Supertuck)

One of the big reasons to carry an extra mag is not the round count, but rather that magazines are normally the weak link for autos. Since I carry a whole extra gun when I'm packing an auto, I don't feel the need to carry extra mags.

Exactly. Shit breaks. The big reason for a spare mag isn't ammo, it's for malfunctions.
