I know this is a rowdy bunch here, but I still find more people here see things the way I do than any other place so I need to ask...
Does anyone here really think that multi level marketing or whatever-the-fuck these pyramid schemes want to be called these days, are anything short of legal scams? I have in-laws and friends in this state (Utah, the MLM capital of America) that no matter how many times they invest in a new one of these "businesses" and no matter how many times they fail, they keep trying them over and over. It is so goddamn stupid to think that if you get 50 friends to sign up and they get 50 friends to sign up, and they get 50 friends to sign up... that there is no end to it? ALL pyramids WILL eventually crash. I remember letting a friend drag me a rented motel conference room to watch a "pre-paid legal" presentation. The slick kid leading the thing started off by showing slides of yachts and mansions and asking the audience if "we are happy with the money we are making now or would like to be making even more money?" WTF kind of dumbshit question is that- everyone wants to make more money. Then he parades a couple of supposed millionaires in front of us.. one guy was a former lawyer he claims. Well shit, if a lawyer says it’s a great investment it’s gotta be! Does anyone actually know someone who started out poor, got into MLM and became rich? I sure as hell don’t and from the research I’ve seen, it appears less than 1% of people who get into these things actually make enough money to quit their normal jobs. I found this site, TheTen Big Lies About MLM condenses a lot of info about them. I'm all for the free market and less .gov restrictions, but MLM's need to be outlawed imo. They produce nothing of value and screw over everyone but the people on top. The entire business model is based on deception and lies. |
