A friend got offered this in a trade and we are trying to figure out WTF it is. Guy says it's .410 and kinda makes me wonder about if its classified as a AOW since it looks much shorter than 16 inches and I thought the judge got around that because it was rifled.

No markings?  That's the oddest gun I've ever seen.

I've never really seen anything like that before. Is it a flare gun?

looks like its full of win...

and just because it shoots .410 does not make it a 'shotgun'... that looks like pistol, and dont think it would be subject to the barrel length restriction... is it smoothbore?

ETA - after looking at it closer... it looks like its a modded shotgun.

Does it have any rifling at all?  A smooth-bore pistol is an AOW.

I hav'nt seen it in person so don't know, it's definently the oddest thing I've seen a picture of.

Tear gas gun?

Kinda small for that I guess.

For an ugly cast single shot .410, it sure is big.

It almost looks home built.  Its really cool though.

410.. Not that old.

Any markings or symbols..

Take the grips off and look at the frames.

Check the inside or ends of the barrel.

Now this is old, and has markings all over it.. Circa 1845 to 1855.

Cant remember the name of it but... it looks to be one of those .. oh hell "bronco" maybe???.. at any rate they were a cheap over under 410/22 or just 22 or 410. That one looks to have been reworked into a .. ummmm... well ... "unique" configuration.

There was a thread here over the weekend where another poster had pics of the "complete" version that he had taken at a customers home IIRC.

"Garcia Bronco" or a "Bauer Rabbit" 1960's-'70's. .22 over .410

I don't think any were made as pistols.......... (run away)

It has almost the exact same mechanism of a Garcia Bronco.

So it's a Garcia Pistol.

ETA...Ok, so it's probably an illegal pistol...you can see the "hump" left from where they cut off the stock.

that gun looks like a model called  a BRONCO sold by garcia back in the day they marketed star pistols, mitchell fishing reels & sako rifles. a .22 version and i thnk a .22/410 o/u version was offered along with a .410. that looks like a cut down 410 model. i could be wrong but i never saw a 410 in that configuration so it might be very illegal, of course that's a photoshopped pic right? right? good, i thought so.

A friend's dad had a couple LeFaucheux pinfire revolvers in display cases.  They looked like pretty conventional 19th century revolvers.  Even had a couple cartridges with them.

It's a cut down version of a .410 take down shotgun made in the 60's-70's. There was a thread on one (full size ) here last week. They were imported by Firearms International . I have a full size one. It was made before serial numbers were required.

I don't think I'd touch that one. The metal was originally painted in a Black wrinkle like finish.

a Garcia Bronko?

Yep...you can see where the stock attachment point was ground down.  Definitely something to stay away from since it is an AOW.

None were.

This one was cut down.. look at the back of the "pistol grip" the point where it gets thick is where the original stock was cut and ground..

They did not have S/N and are grandfathered..

ETA

Definately looks like a Bauer Rabbit (bottom in Picture) was cut down..

The Itallians used Proofmarks on their guns like other Euro countries.. Also most craftsmen place their mark or initials on the frame under the grips.

It could have also been a special order. But I would suspect that some one cut iit down to make a TC  Contender out of it.

Its definately interesting and if it still doesnt have any S/N it has value to a collector.

It was imported by Firearm International Corp. of Washinton DC.. In the process of looking up the Bronco I found a Hangun that was also made by them here in the US. It was called The Regent.
