So what would be an interesting place to visit on my way through the northern part of Texas?
Probably blow through there in my Dodge on I40.
Do you guys have like a Big Ball of Yarn or a restaurant made out of Big Boots or maybe a place a
guy could take his wife and kill a big pig with a spear or something?

What part of "northern" are you referring to?  Dallas is considered North Texas.  The actual northernmost is the Panhandle.  IE Amarillo.  They are about 400 miles apart.  Be more specific.  There's a bit of leg room down here.

Well I40 runs through Amarillo, which we call west Texas.  Not sure of anything to do in those parts.

Cadillac Ranch.

ETA, some Route 66 stuff not too far away, and the 72 oz. steak eating contest.

from someone who lives in the area, he is correct. Everything else in Amarillo is either too pretentious or too Texan.

the memorial actually resides on private land so be careful, but the Billy dixon shot is pretty well known in these parts.

Yeah, it's touristy. But the food was pretty decent when I was there.  And where else are you going to find Rocky Mountain Oysters?

Palo Duro Canyon looks cool. I may have to stop by there.

Now somebody chime in with a place to go spear pigs, or am I going to have to go a little deeper into Texas for that sport?

Well I'm about an hour north of Amarillo and never heard of any feral hogs. Guess you gotta go south of I-40 for that.

sparks,  how about chasing down wild boars with dogs through thick woods and creek bottoms and then stabbing them through the heart with a gemsbok horn?(large african antelope)  Did this on a quail hunt near Bryan College Station.  Probably the craziest thing I've ever done, and wouldn't do it again.  Very dangerous and I wasn't armed other than the 4ft gemsbok horn.  Also really gruesome.   The ranch is full of wild pigs and the owner will set up pig hunts like this for almost nothing, just need to pay the local Aggie boys for their dog guiding services.
