anyone ever hear of this ?
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.. Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans. And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican Nationals! The program was called 'Operation Wetback'. It was done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took 2 Years, but they deported them! operation wetback I thought the illegal alien problem was new . seems our borders and immagration laws have always been relaxed ! Is there a chance this will happen again ? |

What is that you say?? Nobody is picking our vegetables? You don't say. How much for a head of broccoli? My peaches cost how much? I hear yea but the problem is not just the illegal immigrants it is the Americans who are on welfare and disability that are capable of doing these jobs .BTW they are not just fruit pickers they are carpenters ,Landscapers ,brick layers ,Restaurant workers ETC . |

| The operation, while successful, did send a lot of American citizens back over based on ethnicity. Oh, and the Mexican government was absolutely complicit in helping the INS get mexican citizens back into Mexico. Its an interesting time to look at, historically. |

As in Americans who were not children, were born in the United States, spoke English but were ethnically Mexican. Certainly, anchor babys were taken back with their parents, but when the enthusiasm was so high for deporting "mexicans", some American citizens got lost in the shuffle. Like I said, its an interesting topic to look at. The problem started with the Bracero program during WWII. Wetback was the reaction to demobilization. |

It isn't illegal for citizens to do that kind of labor and it never was. I stand by my original statement that if you find a single white person willing to go out and pick vegetables/fruits as efficiently as a day laboror, I'll find you 100 mexicans who are doing already and will probably do it for cheaper (free market capitalism). Your statement makes no sense. Welfare and minimum wage have nothing to do with the legality of doing that kind of labor. Well, if you don't like whats going on, FIGHT HARDER because you aint doing anything worth a shit right now. There seems to be two separate arguments going on here. Crimminals vs. day labor. There is some blurring of lines between the two, but for the most part, day laborers just want a to make a paycheck and go home. Crimminals can burn with while going through a meat grinder. I'm probably gonna get banned here if I keep going so I'm gonna stop now. My final argument is that our system encourages laziness within our borders, thus, people who aren't lazy come from elsewhere to fill the void in the labor pool, and they are doing a good job.
