Anyone watching?

I've caught a few episodes and find it enjoyable!

I felt bad for the guy that dropped $800 on a supposedly authentic old flintlock pistol only to find out it's worth like $100. Woops.

There's gonna be a shitstorm of haters in here, but they can all fuck off.  Pawn Stars is a cool show.  Chumlee alone makes it worth tuning in.

Is this on hulu yet?

haters? Bummer. I thought it was cool...

Pretty good show compared to all the other crap that is on right now.

Channel?

History channel.

It's a "reality" show that actually makes sense on that channel, rather than the "Modern Marvels: Sporks" and "Swamp Truck Loggers" shows out there now.

it's entertaining to see what people bring in.

[#8]
It's one of my go-to shows.
8/21/2009 10:33:50 AM EDT
[#9]
the only thing of real value I've seen on that show is the Cannon
8/21/2009 10:35:41 AM EDT
[#10]
I like it.  Beats the fuck out of Ax Men, Gang Wars, Snowman Melting and half the other stupid shit on CFKAH (Channel Formerly Known As History).

At least there's some history hidden amongst the drama.

Only thing I cant stand about that show is the way they talk. The fat son always says "man" at the end of a sentence. It gets annoying after 30 "mans".
8/21/2009 10:37:25 AM EDT
[#12]
There was a thread awhile back about the show. Alot of people were hating it, I think it is entertaining. I just hope they don't take the Orange County Choppers road, and start playing up the "family conflict".

Aggravates me. Guy brings in a civil war sword. Expert comes in, identifies it, says it's legit and worth more than 4 grand. Guy was standing there when that was said, and still pawns it for $1000. Not too bright.

the show is ok.  Those fat fuck kids suck ass though, lame Ed Hardy gear wearing fat fuckers, they need a good ass kicking.  I hate douche nozzles like that.  Oh well, I guess thats Vegas for ya.

People who are pawning stuff are looking for fast money.  $1000 is a lot more than 0$ in cash, but hey you got a nifty sword.  It's even more money when said sword was free from some long departed uncle or the person picked it up at a garage sale for $10.  Real collectors aren't going to sell their stuff to a pawn store, unless they are really hurting for cash.

Do they show any customers or the employees either ccw'ing or oc'ing?

It's a good show. Pretty close to how non-corporate pawn shops run, except most of the time, it's not Picaso drawings or cannons, and you don't have a team of expert appraisers. You gotta know your own shit, and mostly it's guns, jewelry, tools and tv's, with an assortment of just about everything else you can imagine, including gold teeth and wooden legs.

Characters on this show are spot on typical, including Chumley. It's one thing to be fat, it's another to be fat and stupid. And what's with shooting the old guns? Just for ratings? Just too dangerous with the really old stuff, but I guess that's why Chumley shoots it.

+1 - I like it but they need more episodes.  Seems like they only have 4 shows in the rotation.
8/21/2009 10:58:28 AM EDT
[#22]
Pawn shops eh? All they need now is a show about trailer parks and walmart to round out the programming.
8/21/2009 10:58:37 AM EDT

Like I said before "Everybody thinks their S&$t is worth a fortune"

IMO, it's not bad - fun to watch.

I read/heard somewhere that they are a 24-hour operation and have a night window where people come and pawn stuff

Hope they have a show featuring that - I can imagine some the stuff drunks/druggies/gamblers try to pawn to keep it going .............

I like the one with the gut who brought in the WWII era American fighter jet ejection seat.

Been DVRing it. Any Psych watchers here see the episode where they had to check something out at a pawn shop and showed Gold and Silvers sign and then cut to this inside and it was some dumpy, stereotypical pawn shop.

I like it.

There is definitely a historical theme to the show.

The one last night that thought their piece of the Berlin Wall was worth $5k was funny.

"It's worthless."

"well can we get $1k?"

Rick has said it a bunch of times.  "Guns" are worth a lot more than "gun parts."  In order to qualify as a "gun," it needs to shoot.  There's only one way to fnd out.  Besides, they always have an expert there.  When they shot the 1884 Trapdoor, it was with mouse fart loads in an indoor range.  Not what I'd call dangerous.

I saw that one last night.

As soon as the guy said "I bought it at a gun show, the guy said it was real. No I don't have any documentation on the pistol." I knew that it was a fake.

yeah no kidding. "But it's got an armband...!" Of course it was from the wrong Germany... durr.

That said, I've always wanted a chunk of the Berlin wall... So much history in that.

I like the show, I am always amazed at the stuff being sold by dumbasses that was willed or inherited.

Who the heck sells a baseball signed by Mickey Mantel (and the rest of the team) that was obtained by your father (or was it a grandfather)? You can't get that family history back.

I hear you, but it was actually worth "2 to 4 grand" at a good auction and he made a valid point on the seller being nicked and dimed on fees at auction, plus he had to wait for the auction to happen which takes time so they can get the word out on what's going to be available, to maximize their potential profits, and by selling it at pawn, he walks away with cash now.

Having said that though, they do low ball the crap out of you at pawn shops so I would have gone the auction route myself, but maybe he needed the cash or didn't want the hassle.

I kind of like it.  Seems like every episode somebody brings in some old ass pistol.

I drive by that pawn shop every morning. I saw them filming but thought they were just making a commercial. I need to go in there sometime to check out their ARs.

i think its funny people are like its worth between $300-$1000, i want to get $1000 out of it.

everyone always wants retail at a pawn shop

you go to my neighbor's shop and he will offer you $20 for an 8GB iPod.

they wont pay top dollar for shit that comes in every day.

I thought it was a pretty good show until the episode with the Coke machine. It is obvious in the side by side shot they are different machines. Rather then tell the truth about they made it seem like they made another great buy.

I caught part of it last night.  I thought it was very interesting.

That old injun fellar is pretty laid back. I like how his son haggles -it's the same routine every time.

Customer: How much you give me for this authentic mountain-oyster?

Pawnshop dude: How much you wanting to get out of it?

Customer: $800 / $1000; it's worth that minimum!

Pawnshop dude: *loud exhale/shakes head* then lowballs the shit out of it.
