Hello,
What would be a good "starter" AR-15?  I am looking for something very reliable. I do not want to put alot of "bells and whistles" on it. Thank you .

Hard to beat a Colt 6520 for pure simplicity and reliability.

well I'm going to stick my neck out here and say nearly ANY out of the box AR from ANY of the major mfg will be reliable and work. Armalite, Bushmaster, Stag, Colt, DPMS, CMMG's or RRA's. You might have to try a couple of different mag mfg's to find those that work best, stay away from the gunshow bargain basement box of $7.00 used mags. Try PMAGS, CPRODs, some but not all COLT mfg mags, USGI, etc.

Fire a couple of hundred rounds thru it when it's new, using a couple of different mags, use some good brass cased ammo at first, and you should have a basic reliable weapon.

I have shot Armalites, Colt, CMMG's and a DPMS and they've all worked as intended right out of the box.

Accuracy may be a different discussion.

Just my thoughts....you'll get 3 dozen different opinions I'm sure.
