Printing, copying and scanning are what I need ... in that order.
Color and B&W. Inkjet is OK. $100 - $150 is also OK. Ink cartridges should be rea$onable and commonly available. Black should work even if color is depleted (Apparently, that leaves out many EPSONs) Simple is better. Simple and trouble-free is best. FWIW ... I will NEVER EVER EVER buy another HP product in my life.
Their software sucks donkey-dongs. Constant issues. Works one minute, Fails the next. I've owned three over the years with more or less constant issues. Download patch after zero help from support ... no workie very long if at all. Delete, re-start computer, re-install ... no workie very long if at all. Their All-in-one printers make good copiers. NO HP! Any suggestions ??? Stay safe |

NO HP! Any suggestions ??? Stay safe I have a Lexmark all in one, mostly use it to print and copy, occasionally scan doc's or fax, ink cart's run around $19 for black and $25 for color. Will work when the colors empty, mines a few years old I think you can get a wireless one now for about $100 from newegg, and wired for $80-90. People say the HP's are good too but I've also sworn off their products after a bad experience several years ago. |

I understand the frustration with HP's bloatware, constant pop-ups, reminders. I just bought a Brother MFC 7840W from Best Buy for $200. Fax/copy/scan/print and wireless. BUT, only B&W. I wanted that because I rarely print color and buying a laser toner cartridge once in a while is a lot more economical and new ink cartridges on an almost constant basis. |

I have a Cannon MP470. It is a great all in one and I think it set me back 70 bucks from newegg. At the time all the reviews for this printer were great. When I buy electronics I usually go to newegg check for the product with the highest number and quality reviews. This method has worked out for me everytime so far |

If you do not update every time you are "prompted" to, that damn printer will stop working, I get "updates" allmost daily, I hate HP, cant stand the fuckers, cant wait for this piece of shit to die...... FUCK HP..... I have no idea what you two are talking about. I've been using HP all in ones for over a decade. The only reason I recently replaced mine was because of damage caused by a lightning strike. Nothing would survive that. But It worked fine, so does my new one. |

I have a HP all ine one laser that is great, I have never used the HP software with it, just the windows drivers, and have never had any issue at all. I have had this one for about five years now. Before this one I had a Brother all in one inkjet, it was great but the ink was stupid expensive and it wouldn't print black if any of the color tanks were empty, and that is why it got shitcanned. I also have a Kodak color ink printer for printing stuff that needs color, keeping our printers running is unbelievably cheap this way. I don't have to replace the color carts that often, they are a little pricey when we do, but it isn't that often. The Toner isn't all that expensive for this model, and the carts last forever, I have only had to change it twice, and the first cart was a starter cart that isn't going to last long, the next change was after three years.
I stopped using any software that a printer comes with a long time ago, since then I have had a lot less trouble with printers, they are more appliance like than anythign else now, especially the HP, it just works when it is supposed to. |

You can scan straight to USB with is cool. The higher quality Canon ones are great printers as well, they are CMYK instead of color+black. |

Quoted: inkjets from any company suck a huge amount of ass. Cheaply made, insanely bloated and buggy drivers, extremely over priced ink.... just not worth it. He speaks the Truth.... I jettisoned my last of several inkjets, that being an AIO, years ago, after one portion of it died. I never used the FAX, so if that was dead too, I wouldn't have known, or cared. It was replaced by a HP 1020 laserjet and HP G4050 flatbed scanner. I just had to replace the ORIGINAL toner cartridge, and I'm just starting my last year towards a bachelor's in Psych. |
