There is a new range that is supposedly going to open in the area. Application fee is $75 and the dues are going to run $300/yr for an individual and $600 per family.
That seems a bit steep...... but maybe not. What are you guys paying for private range memberships? |

I'm not a member - Have several places I can shoot for free.. but If I wanted a 1000yd range.. I'd be a member here... $300 1st year $200 every year thereafter http://www.geocities.com/youngsrange/ |

My indoor range's fees for single:
$350 one time (not annual) initiation fee, plus $27.50 dues per month, payable on the same day of every month. Payment start date is the day one joins. As an alternative, the initiation fee and first year’s dues can be combined at the rate of $65 per month, payable on the same day of each month, for the first year, at the end of which period, dues will revert to the regular $27.50 per month rate. Annual prepayment of the monthly dues results in a reduction of dues from $330 to $302.50, a savings of $27.50. Three free guest passes are included per each annual renewal. It's about double for a couples membership, and even more for a family. I got in as a charter member, the initiation fee was $175 with $20/mo dues. My dues have since gone up 10%. If I had to join at today's prices I wouldn't do it. ETA: The facilities are very nice. They used to have great member prices on guns and ammo, anymore not so much. |

$300 for individual, $350 per couple or $400 for a family at my indoor range per year, no initiation fee.
Unlimited time, just have to buy your targets from them ($.50 to $.95 each) and ammo must be closed-base (no FMJ, must be jhp, jsp or tmj, 22lr must be copper coated, 223 and bigger must be frangible) Kharn |

I shot 1 time at a range in Mandeville, LA that was no FMJ. It was the fudds way of keeping the black rifle crowd out. It worked

Some of you are paying out the butt for range time. Mine is $90/year, renewals about $10-$15 cheaper. Range is open from sun up to sundown, private gate access, 25 yard range, 80 yard range, 200 yard range, shotgun/trap area, picnic tables, free targets, unlimited guests. I would still take a membership in one of the states where you can shoot against a mountain backdrop. I can't think of anything that seems more relaxing (or challenging). |

My club = one time application fee of $75 plus $150 a year. It's a great deal and best of all it's only two miles from my house.
Two pistol ranges, one plinking range (shoot at cans & bottles), three rifle ranges (50, 100, & 200), trap & skeet range, and an indoor clubhouse. Shooting positions are covered with awnings so you can shoot on rainy days. |

There are a few ranges around here. I've been in two. The one I am in and have been in in the last three years is $215.00 yr. The first one I belonged too was $50.00 per yr, had all kind of problems and safety was an issue. Idiots, shooting at oxygen tanks, country threatening to close them down, I had guys pointing weapons all over the place will on the range, access was wide open and I think there was someone shooting at an electrical transformer. They have it gated now and a range person there while it is open. It is better now and not sure what they are charging. The one I am in now is very nice, only 200 members total, six ranges, plinking range with auto fire, match range with the revolving target gizmo's, 100 yrd, 150 yrd, skeet, and a 22LR range I haven't been on yet. It is kept clean and it is not crowded, so I get to spend more 'hot' shooting time then I do "cold" waiting. Just better. Works for me.
ETA: No application fee,you can bring anyone with you and there is no limit, facilities are great. You can purchase targets and drinks (honor system). |
| 15 bucks per year at an NRA built county run public range, complete with bench rests, target stands, backing for stands, and it is indoor shooting outside. Cheap shooting and there isn't anyone ever there except for hunting season while they are sighting in their rifles. Private ranges range from 60-100 bucks a year in my area. |

I think we are haveing a definition problem here.
There are commercial ranges that offer memberships where one pays upfront instead of per hour or day . These ranges have huge overhead and are set up as profit makeing buisnesses. The other thing is a private club where one joins and pays yearly dues, Might have to pay an initial buy in and do work for the good of the club. There are various reasons to chose one over the other and cost along with facilities will vary greatly |

$125.00 per year.
50-200 yard BR range Smallbore Range Plinking Range Walk through archery range Skeet/Trap/Clays (not a walk through clays course though) Silhouette Range 8 Action Pistol/Cowboy Bays Indoor Range HP Range 200-1000 yards Club House (that is being re-built into a really nice facility) two ponds with really nice fishing facility is open to archery hunting a few days a year as well as turkey hunting a few days over 600 acre facility...worth every penny Proximity Badges open the two gates on campus |
| Our local club is $250 per year, but members can volunteer up to 8 hours of work for range upkeep and events. If you work all 8 hours that knocks down the cost to just $50 per year. The discount is pro-rated so you can work fewer hours and still get a little bit of a discount. |
|
$35/ year for the first 4 years then it drops to $15. Nothing fancy but it is private and attended by good people. With all the local LE and .gov agencies around here I get to see some cool stuff too.
It is that or the open desert, but I do not like to go out there alone anymore. Too close to MX. Not that I am afraid of anyone, it is the legal drama that would take place if self defense were necessary. |

Depends on some things:
-What do they offer? -What is their membership limit? -Location? -What is the range situation in your area? I pay $215 a year, I can shoot until 9pm, membership is capped at 150. For my area, this is the best I can do between a nazi range, a shithead range, the one I belong to, and buying my own land. $600 per family is bullshit IMHO. Something else... Are they a privately owned range where you pay to play, or are there going to be members and the members elect a board, make the rules, etc? |
