Ok, I think that I have been up for going on two and a half days, I am not tired at all (sleepy), but I am exhausted. I know that I need sleep, but it does not seem to want to come.  Any suggestions?

Welcome to my world... I have no easy answers other than to tell you to cut yourself off from all media. Then force yourself to lay in bed and relax and relearn how to sleep. It might take months of practice, but you have to train the body how to sleep.

Picture a beach ball, basketball, volleyball: whatever.

The ball is in an empty room. Nothing in the room but the ball. The ball does not move. The ball just sits. You visualize the ball. You focus on the fact that the ball is not moving.

I've been awake for 65-something hours as of the time of this post. The Ball visualization works for me...I just don't want to sleep.

You get used to it eventually.  I would tell you how long it takes to get used to it, but I don't remember.  You even get used to the hallucinations.  The blackouts can still be pretty scary though, especially when you're driving.

I've been doing the lying down in the dark till passing out thing for two nights now, but as of today my back is so jacked up from twisting and turning, just trying to pass out that it hurts when I lie down.

So I'm in a recliner...drinking a fucking beer.

You know, you would think that I would be used to this sort of thing, switching from days to nights sucks, I deal with this every time I try to get back on a day schedule.  I can never seem to get used to this, and I have been doing this for years.

maybe try going for a run?  lift weights?  something that will exhaust your body enough to tell your brain to sleep

I can't, Sunday and Monday are my break days from working out, I have a good routine, and I do not want to screw that up, besides I do not live in the best part of Omaha, running at 3:30 in the morning isn't really the greatest idea.

Omaha, is weird a lot of truly random violence most places it's dope slinging gone bad or someone put their dick in someone that a third party highly objected to

Well now would Mrs_Fury help out I am being serious if you go at 1-2hr+ you should sleep like a baby
This has worked for me when the gold standard  for insomnia has failed
