cool. thanks for the link.
The Swiss have those things everywhere. I stayed in a 2 bedroom home in Switzerland when I was there and a week before I left I found out that even that modest home had a bomb shelter underneath.

I was excited and impressed, they thought I was crazy.
It's like having gutters to them. Something else to take care of that's not so uncommon.

All that effort to build a shelter and the owner stocks American Eagle as his SHTF rounds?  WTF?

Hey, AE223 is good.  Pretty high velocity 193ish stuff, as far as .223 goes.

I'm certain there are some BFL stickers somewhere in those pics.

For those that are interested, the shelters shown in Utah are from these guys. A member here recently purchased and installed one, and had a good experience doing so.

PS, I don't work for them.

I know it's been said before, but the problem with professional installers is that strangers now know you have a shelter. Do companies such as this do proper screenings or do they hire illegal aliens or whatever labor they can find that day? The same concern applies to safe rooms and secret passages, all of it.

You dig for a pool, and i guess the shelter fairy drops it off at nite... And umm ya,

If that was me I would just tell the nabors getting a septic tank installed lol,

Valid point, but at some point you have to do a cost/benefit analysis and/or risk assessment, and realize that no state of affairs will ever be 100% secure.

The company that did one on a project that I was involved in flew in from out of town (traveling crew from the manufactuer). They put it in over a weekend and everything was backfilled and hidden by monday morning. It was a prefab metal and fiberglass unit, looked like a large gas storage tank.

I knew what it was, no one else on the jobsite caught on (the GC, the client's security consultant and myself were the only ones who knew about it). I wound up getting a tour of it as well as connecting the video feeds down to it .. Pretty cool.

These would be great for a simple SHTF type event but most of these were made during the Cold War and that was all nuclear...

Who wants to live after a full nuclear exchange?I hope I am at the core of an impact.....Not me..

I mean I wouldn't mind watching the first 4-5 go off but after that it would become surreal to a point...

The entire population can be put underground in two hours. Bridges and
tunnels throughout Switzerland are set with explosives to be blown in
the face of an advancing enemy.

You do understand that you should only have one anti virus program on your computer.  Running more than one at a time can and will cause conflicts.

Are these good for attacks from people? I mean what if someone knew of the air vents/inlets......wouldnt they just cut off your air or something?
I would love one either way, but i couldnt afford one of them and still pay my mortgage  Ill bet that the transport and installation would be as much or more than the actual bunker.

I wouldn't mind a bunker, but the problem is that if you make something that's hard for the bad guys to get into, it's going to be hard for you to get out of.

Unless they're completely hidden, their biggest asset is protecting you from fallout. Honestly, I think they only way they're feasible is if a large family secretly built one, without telling anyone, but it's compromised the minute a stranger discovers it.

And a perfect example of how it's simply not feasible for the average suburban family to build a shelter without the entire neighborhood knowing about it.

unfortunately in the case of a massive nuclear exchange, those bunkers would have to be several hundred feet deep, otherwise the occupants would be cooked alive.
