Are there any experts on antique clocks out there? I got one passed down to me from a great uncle. Apparently it's been in the family awhile, but no one can tell me how long or anything about it, really.
"Ansonia Clock Co. Eight Day Weight & Spring Mantel Clock" Beyond that, I have no clue. |

don't do anything with it until you know more (wind, clean, etc..)
there might be some info here: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/clocks/ansonia |

Does it have the visible Escapement? (the tick tock wheel visible in front of the dial near the 12 o clock position)??
Those are fairly desirable, but not usually worth more than $500 in pristine condition. Still if you can get it working, especially the "gong" you will find its well worth it! |

It has a "decorative" hole approx. 2.5' wide directly in the center that shows some of the works (appear to be brass?).
I was told that it works fine... gong and everything. My great uncle wound it every few days and kept it going all these years. I remember that darn chime in his house from when I was a kid. I've got pics, but I don't know how to post them here... Duuuuuhhhhhh! |
