More like used, but new to me.  My brother-in-law is sending me his wife's old camera, a Canon Rebel (300D?).  He upgraded his wife to a newer model so he's keeping the lenses.  He's including the battery, charger, manual, and software.  It should arrive today but he couldn't find the memory card until today and will ship it out in the next day or two.

Also, he was going to sell it on ebay but ended giving it to me instead.  What's the value of it?  I'd like to know so that I can send him a thank you gift for it since he won't accept any money in return.

I'm a novice when it comes to cameras but I got the basics down.  I've always wanted to learn more and love taking pictures with my current camera, a Sony DSC-H1.  I'm going to check with the local technical/community college and see if have any photography classes.  In the meantime, what websites should I check out to learn more?  What kind of lens should I start off with?  -  Thanks!

For a couple good lenses that won't break your bank, you might try the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 DC Macro and the Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 APO DG Macro.

Unfortunately, digital camera values tank very, very fast.

If he was going to sell on ebay, look there for some prices on completed auctions for that model.

I would say rough guess of $200ish depending on the condition..... hope that helps some.

Nope, no lens at all so I need one to start taking some pictures with.
