Semper Fidelis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semper_fidelis
When I was in the Corps I was told it meant always faithful to God, our country, and the Corps. I swore an oath to defend our county from all enemies, foreign and domestic. I don't know what motto other branches have or live by. I would imagine the oath all branches are given is pretty much the same, and all are sworn to defend the country against all enemies foreign and domestic. Reading here about the disarming of America using troops just seems unlikely to be a reality. I remember when the Marine refused to salute president Klinton, and while I understood, I was still disappointed in his not respecting the office. I also understand in life one must do what is wright for ones self, and we must live with the consequences of our actions. Sometimes I wish I had all the answers, unfortunately everything is not black and white. I'm raising my son by myself. He's 11 now soon to be 12, and I wonder how badly I have screwed him up, what I could ,or should do to help him become the good man I pray he is one day. What kind of world it will be for him, and what will happen in this country in the next few years, what will he have to deal with. I am having a really hard time believing that our troops would help disarm us, but I have seen things happen here I never dreamed could be anything but a mad mans ravings. Now it's reality, and stranger stuff is being uttered. Anyway, Long Live Old Glory! Semper Fi!

Reading here about the disarming of America using troops just seems unlikely to be a reality. I Governor Perry recently signing the bill, HB 1831, allowing the Texas state government to force evacuation by law for any "declared" emergency means we are one step closer to a New Orleans type disarmament scenario should anything occur, whether it be a man made emergency or a natural one. rest assured getting you out of your home forcefully will involve disarmament. I find his support of this policy deplorable. (b) A county judge or mayor of a municipality who orders the
evacuation of an area stricken or threatened by a disaster by order may compel persons who remain in the evacuated area to leave and authorize the use of reasonable force to remove persons from the area. (c) The governor and a county judge or mayor of a municipality who orders the evacuation of an area stricken or threatened by a disaster by a concurrent order may compel persons who remain in the evacuated area to leave. Source While I disagree with forced evacuation, I think your presumption that "we are one step closer to a New Orleans type disarmament scenario" is off base. One doesn't, on it's face, have anything to do with the other. Being 5th gen. Texan, I don't see disarmament happening there. |

I have faith in Americans, I mean the sort that made this country what it once was. Ahhh, the government, not so much.

There is a reason we have a volunteer force and a Constitutional amendment that they cannot police their countrymen. Now, knowing the BS loopholes that would be used to bypass these in some sort of 'Homeland Security' ploy, I firmly believe that there would be quite a bit of internal strife within the military to do so, and furthermore, those that were sent may do anything in their power to simply go through the motions with no real effect.
If things were heated and we resisted, I think the fact that we did resist would break the morale of most of our military due to the fact that they would not fight their fellow countrymen and most probably share the exact same sentiments about our rights. Not to downplay our armed forces in any way, but if the citizens of the US got off their asses and fought back - you wouldn't stand a chance. |

If 1 in 50 troops recognizes the constitutional right to bear arms for what it is, disarming the citizens with troops will not work. It will be more like %50. Especially if the try to do it on a weekend. You ever tried to get ahold of a Private on a weekend? Little fucks never answer their phones because they think they're getting called into work. But I digress. |
