I saw that thread about an EDC light and I wanted to see if anyone knew of a modestly priced ( < $40 or so ) light that also has an on / off clicky button on the tailcap. I saw the Fenix E01 and that is a good size, but no tailcap button. Pocket carry would be important too.

look into the coleman extreme.
Its cheap, bright, some models run on AAA's, or CR123's. and they are small. I have two. If I dropped them out of my truck and ran them over. It would not really bother me to much. they do have an aluminum body btw, and tail switch wtih momentary and constant. They do not have any other fancy features though. Edit to add. The colemans are 115 lumens |

I bought an AkoRay and it finally shipped in from Korea.
I did not realize I had to get a special battery for it. I had to order some of the 14500 batteries. Its pretty neat torch though. I am running standard 1.5V AA right now. Its not as bright as my 120 lumen coleman. The strobe feature and low light setting are pretty nice. Its probably going to be another 2 weeks before I get the new batteries. I will report back then. |

Fenix P2D or PD20 is my favorite lights. The L2D or LD10 are single AA battery lights that almost match the 123 battery lights I mentioned first. All of them are slightly higher price than what you are looking for.
The LD01 has a high of 80 lumens, but it has a twisty switch. Not bad, but not great. |

The Fenix lights are nice, but the SF E1B is pretty damn good. Built like a tank, small, and the operation is foolproof. Some of the Fenix lights have goofy operation. The downsides on the E1B is that it is big for it's class, and it is pricey, but it's a SF and wont ever do you wrong. I'd avoid any of the Deal Extreme / Kai Domain crap. Not worth the time.
Nite PD10 may do it for ya, but they are hit and miss from what I can tell. I'd look up the new 4 Sevens Quark line too! |

I have dozens and not one of them has goofy operation! Silly maybe but not goofy........ The operation becomes second nature in 5 minutes of playing with it. Now that I have had them for several years I don't even think about it at all. With all the lights I have I would have had some misses by now, but all hits so far. |
