LoL... No pic but I'm going to guess that you don't really value your life much. Why is that? Posted before you said that you did not intend to eat them... Mushrooms are kind of difficult to identify. Every year, there's a few "experts" that die in really ugly ways. |

Because so little was known about mushrooms, many misconceptions concerning the edibility of mushrooms have developed. Some of the more common ones are briefly discussed below: Collecting mushrooms for consumption is unsafe and even experts have died from picking the wrong mushrooms. This last misconception is the one that continues to be perpetuated by the news media every year. Probably every year, you can read a headline that goes something like "Expert Mushroom Hunter Dies From Eating Deadly Mushroom". However, upon closer examination of such a story it is often the case that the person that died is far from being an expert. Even those who are avid collectors that have been foraging for wild mushrooms, for only a short period of time, are unlikely to die from mushroom poisoning, if they have even had a minimum of training in the do's and don'ts of mushroom collecting and if common sense is used. There are a number of species that are very good to eat that cannot be mistaken for other species. If collectors stick with those species, mushroom poisoning is highly unlikely. New species can be tried through interaction with other collectors who have eaten other species. I still wouldn't fuck with them. |

Mushrooms are kind of difficult to identify. Every year, there's a few "experts" that die in really ugly ways. Tru Dat. I've had the misfortune of eating toadstools that I mis-ID'd as edibles. It was, hands down, the sickest I've ever been in my life, and I'm pretty sure I came close to death that day. 24 hours of profuse sweating, intense stomach pain, cramps, vomiting, delerium, and naseau, followed by 3-4 days of milder symptoms & weakness. My stupidity in eating them was only eclipsed by my stupidity in not going to the hospital... since I was ashamed of poisoning myself eating mushrooms. Needless to say, my days as a mycophile were short-lived. I agree that there are common edibles that can be easily ID'd. The trap is that once you've ID'd a few of them properly, you have more confidence to try your hand ID'ing the less common varieties. And those can get you in trouble. |

There are a few varieties that will completely destroy your liver. If they can't find you a new liver, you die. RF |
