I've been doing it a lot lately due to stress, etc.  It's causing my jaw to ache and my jaw joints to become inflamed.  Any solutions?

wish i had one.

ive ground my "sharp" teeth down completely flat just over the past year...

never used to do it, just started this past year with added stresses.

You can go to a dentist and pay $600 for a jaw protector for your mouth while you sleep...or you can go to wal-mart and buy a football mouthguard for $1.99 and sleep with it.

Trust me...its all the same in the end

ETA whether you go to the dentist or wal-mart, you will notice a significant improvement by sleeping with a mouth guard.

Go to your dentist and get a thing to wear to bed. If I didn't wear one I wouldn't have any teeth left in the front.

I've done the same things at times over the years - and yes, I'm there again.  Doc gave me valiums and/or muscle relaxers for bed-time, but I wake up feeling like i've ran a marathon - so it ain't worth it.

Luckily the stress isn't making me grind my teeth but my damned eyeball has been twitching for almost a week and it is driving me nuts!



Maybe get a stress ball or punhing bag or something that will allow you to release the tension somewhat? I got a stress ball recently and popped it already.

I'd get a mouth guard from a sporting goods store and wear it at night. In the daytime, chew gum.

treat the cause, not the symptoms. I'll bet your jaw isn't the only thing tightening up.

Relaxation exercises and/or meditation will help you not only alleviate the stress, but also allow you to notice when you are stressed/tense.

I do it in my sleep some times.  I've got a mouth guard that prevents me from doing it.

This.  Go to a good sporting goods store and buy a decent mouthguard, one you can fit to your bite.  You dip the mouthpiece in boiling water for a specified amount of time, then put it in your mouth and bite down, hold it 'til it sets up.  You'll never grind your teeth again.  Especially good if your grind your teeth in your sleep.

I've done it for most of my life at night...  Some of my teeth are flat now and some are in the shape of fangs up front.

I went to a Psychologist and got hypnotized  that help a great deal
