Probably due to the open form factor, a non atom chip would probably heat up pretty quick? ETA: looks bad ass though and probably good enough for the casual user I think it would be cooled just as good as in the full sized version. probably with a 150mm fan. |

ETA: looks bad ass though and probably good enough for the casual user no, it would be cooled just like it is in the full sized version. I'd guess they would have a 150mm fan. So even if it had a pretty good fan airflow is going to be minimized by the open case design, so the processor stays cool what about the rest of the internals? Why did they put the powersupply under the motherboard? it seems like a bad idea since heat rises ETA: is that a big fan on the very top? if so I can see how this will work with an atom processor. Atoms chips done use very much power and thus dont produce much heat |

Atoms chips done use very much power and thus dont produce much heat that's a good point, but from the reviews I read, the open case turns out to have better airflow than closed cases, it is cooler. they say the panels restrict airflow, so no panels must be improving it because it is cooler. as for the PSU under the mobo, PSU's have their own fans, the heat doesn't go up. ETA: FUCK Atom CPU's. |

Atom processors are good for people like my mother, She surfs the web and creates some power point presentations for work (oh yeah and iTunes) so minimal power usages is a bonus for her and with windows 7 coming out I could definatly see using this for a small setup some where.

| From what I've read on it, it's designed to be a test frame, not something you actually build a permanent rig on. The whole "open case" design was to allow very easy hot-swapping of parts while doing tests and the like. I'd never want to use something like that as a dedicated rig, heating issues would be an absolute bitch since you don't actually have any sort of plenum to encourage air flow. |

Quoted: Quoted: Would have been better if they made it taller instead of wider. No one wants that much desk space vanishing. Look at the last picture, you can see by comparing the size of the DVD-rom that its actually super small. Last pic is of the worthless mini that no one would use anyway. Look at the full size - there's nearly room for three optical drives side by side! |
