Why is the Vortex flash hider on my Noveske better then the bird cage hider I have at work?  Does it really work THAT much better?

I've seen a couple comparison videos in AR Discussions that made it look like a pretty big difference.

Always wondered why everyone says Vortex is the best, but 99% of AR pics on arfcom have Phantoms if not the A2

I had a picture saved somewhere that compared the most popular flash suppressors, the Vortex has better flash suppression than the A2.

I'll look for the pic and post it if I can find it.

A2=cheap, and gives it the GI look

Phantom=often used to get 14.5" barrels to >16"

I might have to run a little test up at my cabin in the fall complete with video from the target prospective.

That makes sense, I was assuming they were the same length.  Is a 14.7 barrel required with Vortex to make 16"?

I think they said it has something to do with vibration. The "prongs" vibrate/resonate when the gun is fired.

A Vortex is long enough for a 14.5"

The difference isn't nearly worth the price, unless maybe you are fighting with the weapon on a daily basis.

Of course, that's true with most of the stuff in this obsession

The least flash I have ever scene was from a Vortex.  There was a suppressed ar in this test also.

I thought of all the ones in the test the phantom actually provided more suppression of burning gases.

I put a Vortex on my Marlin 444.  I'm gonna shoot it one night and see how much it suppresses that flash.

Vortex does work well, but I don't like the tines. I prefer the Phantom(s) and the Phoenix.

True.
The reason you see more phantoms is because the end is sealed and all of them have to be a perm attachment .
It doesn't hurt that a Phantom costs about half as much as a Vortex.

The Vortex is better for those time you need to shove it up someones ass and give it a couple of turns.........

In my opinion a Vortex, is the only way to fly. Try one. It's the cats ass on an AR, M1A, and an AK.

I can go outside here, and it's pitch black. Fire the weapon, and not be blinded. It's quite amazing, to use one like that.

Would like to fit one to my Krink.

Alright.. how about the AAC blackout (non-suppressor mount version)?

What's the flash suppression  like... and does it bring a 14.5" up > 16"?

AAC blackout or Vortex... when the price is irrelevant.
Which would you want?
