I'm in the market for a new couch and chair. After doing some looking around with my wife I've determined that I like the look and feel of leather. I have heard a lot of good and bad things about leather. My main concern is weather the dog is going to scratch the hell out of it or if my son will spill and stain it. So great hive mind what so you about leather furniture? |

It's rugged as hell but uncomfortable. Fall asleep on it and you will be one big sticky/sweaty mess.
I HAD a Natuzzi LR set a few years ago... and after moving it to the basement, I finally just GAVE it away. I've come to learn that furniture designed to look expensive and trendy, generally isn't made to sit on or be comfortable. It seems like the old junk couch someone just puts out at the curb for the township Spring clean-up, is always the cozy couch you can sink right into and fall asleep.

I love the look and feel of it. Then again, I'm always hot and love the cold, so in the summer, it feels awesome in an AC-chilled room. And in the winter it seems like it's plenty warm to me. I've never woke up in a sweaty mess on it since I don't sleep on it.
My cats have beat it up a bit, but a scratch here or there doesn't bother me. |

If you get black leather, you don't have to worry about the stains.
I'm not sure about the dog. I have a cat, and as a result, my couch is fabric. My folks have a Natuzzi black leather couch. That thing has gone from CA to Singapore to Taiwan, to TX, and back to CA over the last 20 years. It's sagging more now, but the leather's still soft and supple. |

That is my major issue, I would love leather furniture, but, my two cats are fully equipped, and I have no desire to amputate fingers on them. |
| Our last purchase for a sofa combo the salesman talked the wife and I into leather. He knew we had 4 kids and 3 dogs between 70-120lbs. The leather has held up better than anything we've ever had as far as the kids and dogs. You do have to condition it regularly and other than that it does get hot or cold depending on room temperture but I'm happy with the purchase and would purchase leather again. |

We had a leather section that was the most comfortable couch we ever had. Gotta condition it though. Our dog and cat never scratched it either. I did however drop my cordless drill with a screwdriver bit in the chuck and impaled the side of the couch. Dont do that, it tends to get the wifes blood pressure dangerously high
