Anyone here have one? I'm thinking about buying one but the good ones are very pricey. I wonder if any seamstresses could make one? Anyways just post your info about them.

A jacket that you like to smoke in?  Get leather since it doesn't burn too well.

I have a really nice silk smoking jacket that I purchased in 1990 from a Chiese tailor in Hong Kong. It's gorgeous.  I wish I could fit in it.

It's supposed to keep the odor of tobacco smoke of off your clothing. Also protect your clothes from ashes.

Does it work? I went with a fellow arfcommer to the local smoking lounge and when I got home the wife made me disrobe in the garage and then shower due to overwhelming sent of cigar smoke. Apparently free scotch and cigar scent is not attractive to the wife.

In all seriousness, I just like wearing different crazy things. I've worn cowboy attire since I was a small child, but need some help as I am really purchasing things now instead of just off the shelf type kmart items.

My Mom made one for my Dad in the '70s. I used to have it, but it apparently didn't make the move from the ex's house. It was striped with a red satin lining. It was really pretty cool. It wouldn't fit me (Dad was a 40L, I'm about a 46L) but I'd still like to have it.

Sure I have one, in fact I own a good many.  I definitely recommend you grab one.  You can usually find them at Army Surplus Stores

Just being my normal shithead self, look me up I'm in the book.  I'm with you on some of the vintage stuff.  Whenever I watch LA Confidential, I think damn now that was a style.

He already has a hat picked, see other thread(s)

OP: Not traditional by any means, and certainly not fashionable outside your own home but I used to have a zip-up flannel-lined light water-resistant canvas Polo jacket that worked pretty well if washed frequently (2-3x/wk).  Nobody I've ever met knows I smoke, and I smoke(d) cigar, pipe, cigarette, among other things.  Put dryer sheets in all the pockets before drying.

I don't smoke, but I have one.  Get one with dark silk and dragons or a large tiger head on the back.  Be a legendary pimp.  You can get them for 20-50 bucks on Ebay.

I have one that's constructed like a suit jacket. It's not the traditional kind because it doesn't have frog closures, but it is red velvet and sumptuous and ridiculous, which is fine by me, and I am an avid fan of cigars and pipes, so I do wear it in public from time to time

I don't have a very good picture of it here, since it's back at home, but I used it as a backfrop for my luger pistol, so here's one of those photos:
