yeah they're awesome. I've had my nose broken like 4 times and get sinus infections real easy. I had 3 in like 3 months before I got one of those, and I never had one again. This. My nose has been broken a few times and allergies always get me. After a day being around dust and mold, this works great. And I hate hippies |

Nasal irrigation is great if you have allergies. It's like hitting the RESET button in your nose. It's also good if you work in dusty environments, or are outside a lot when it's dry and dusty.
I'll probably do it tonight before I hit the sack since I rode the motorcycle to work. |

The Mayo Clinic supports the use of Neti pots.

Aaaaand for a contrarian report.....I used one for 6 months and had several of the most gawdawful sinus infections I've ever had. Switched to the saline nasal sprays they sell at Walmart and now all's well. The neti pot isn't for everyone YMMV. Better check your ingredients. |

I used a "Nasaline" (big huge syringe with a fitted plug at the end for your nostril) for awhile before I moved last September, and then it got lost in the move.
I keep thinking I'll find it one of these days, so I'm refusing to go buy another...but I might have to break down here shortly. |

My wife has wicked bad sinusitis, worst a few doctors had ever seen. Slides of the inside of my wife's nose are ENT porn. She's had two major sinus surgeries, one minor, and dozens of infections with TONS of antibiotics, steroids ( Instead of the neti pot, she uses a Neilmed bottle. They're available at the pharmacy. Easier to use, more effective. We've both done a lot of research into the whole sinus rinse thing, and it's important to get past the hype. The studies go back and forth over it's use in more general cases, with some claiming that it can help spread or deeper seat an infection while others claim benefit for John Q. Public from the practice. |

Quoted: Father-in-law introduced me to it. It's kinda wierd. My sister's husband introduced me to it when I strted getting allergic reactions to the pollens in the air last spring. I used it because I was having trouble breathing from my left nostril, turns out I had polyps in there. |

I have some hellatious allergies about twice a year in the fall and spring. Lasts about a month and a half at most. Most of the time about two weeks of allergies one day fine the next then back to full tilt boogie snot drain.
Tried the neti pot, burned like someone put a brazing torch up my nose seemed to make it worse for about two hours, and then... all clear.
Now I just buy a two months supply of alevert and go on with life. one pill in the AM keeps the allergies beat into submition. Also been taking a daily dose of local honey in the morning on my toast to see if this will make a difference come the fall. The whole nose douche thing seemed like too much work... IMO |
