yes, that is all you need, however, I would also get the clearcoat, as it will blend the final finish into a uniform sheen. (I like the matte as opposed to the glossy).
You will need an airbrush, and degreaser for the weapon. I would use a non-chlorinated brake cleaner(use the whole can). BTW, look at the refinishing forum for other answers and ideas. It is under the armory heading. |

You dont need an airbrush if you get some of the Preval units if you are using 4 oz or more of the same color. The Prevals work pretty good but make sure you can comfortably coat the weapon with the Duracoat. If it begins to dry in the Preval tubing yoru pretty much done with that batch.
I' ve used the Prevals to coat UH-60 rotor blades with the new erosion coating system. By varying your distance and speed you can put down very uniform and thin coats. Just use a paper plate or some such to do a couple of test sparays so you get a feel for distance/speed versus coating thickness. For an occasional one off duracoating I would use the Prevals, if you plan on doing a lot more then look into the airbrush. |

I purchased Duracoat, along with the sprayer. I wanted to try it out on something other than a $500.00 + weapon, so I Duracoated my nephews paintball gun, two coats of paint, two clear coat, came out excellent.
HOWEVER, the sprayer was such a pain in the arse. I wasted a lot of paint and called LCW a few times. I finally got the job done, but it was a horror to work with because of the sprayer. If I had to do over, I would have researched the sprayer and got a higher quality one. BTW, I have yet to actually paint a firearm |
