Kel-tec P-11, or PF-9?

EDIT: Looking for something in 9mm. Maybe if I get over my present aversion to picking up a new caliber I'll get something in .380. Talk me into it?

Walther PPS ?
Sig P232 ?  (ETA: 232 is out if you want to stick to 9x19mm...the PPS suggestion still stands. Something to look into.)

P3at.

Caliber consolidation...does not compute.

Otherwise I'd be all over the P3AT. I just don't want to deal with a new caliber now.

The PPS looks good. I'll have to add that to my list to check out.

S&W 442 is my main BUG.

A Ruger LCP serves as my BUG on rare occasions.

Have a pf-9 in a desantis pocket holster tucked in my right front pocket,  been there all day and forgot I had it...

I don't believe in BUGs for civilians.  If you really think you are going to be in a gunfight, don't go.  If not, take something reliable and extra ammo.

Soooo.... Police Officers should not carry a back-up gun?

Interesting.

If I thought I was going be in a gun fight, I sure as hell wouldnt bring only handguns, there would be a few long rifles in my kit.

Even the most reliable hand gun in the world, crafted from gods hands out of unobtanium, lubed with virgin pussy juice WILL FAIL AT SOME POINT.

And, last, but most certainly not least.

Two is One, One is NONE.

Not to hijack my own thread, but yeah, if I knew I was headed to a gunfight, I either wouldn't go or my full-size would be my backup or something...

Whatever. A weapon failure is not the only reason to carry a backup, as this thread appears to demonstrate. I like options. Having the ability to carry a lightweight backup seems to be a nice option. Also, having a lightweight 9mm seems to be a nice option for warm weather, running, etc.

IN ANY EVENT... Assuming you were to recommend a backup gun for a plebeian, what would it be?

That's cool and all, but I have yet to meet anyone outside of an offensive military or SWAT situation who knew there was going to be a gunfight ahead of time. The rest of us just have to play the cards we are dealt.
