Yesterday I was hacking at a tree and ended up getting bit by some damn bug(s) in three places on my hand. They blistered and I popped them and put some Benadryl on. Well the itching will not stop! So I used some Isopropyl al and then some hproxide to see if that would kill.
Any ideas? |
| I do not recommend this first off...do at your own risk...but some old KY backwater cure for poison ivy and even chicken pock itch is straight bleach. I tried it once back in my preteen days...it burned like hell fire! But once I quit dancing as the pain subsided...the itch did in fact go away. |

Ammonia is generally used for insect bites and stings.
But if you happened to get into poison ivy, dilute bleach to neutralize the urushoils, and then use a wire brush when it itches. There are several sprays that contain benzocaine, lidocaine, etc. They are topical pain killers that might help. There is even topical diphenhydramine, an antihistamine. I think I saw it sold under the Benedryle name. |

Zyrtec and Claritin will not make you drowsy. Benedryl will. Alcohol will dry out your skin and irritate it to make the symptoms worse. |

There's some stuff that my wife got called "Aveno". They make a lot of products but one is an anti itch cream. Has some mumbo jumbo on the lable about oatmeal and some other natural stuff. I usually don't buy the hype on this kinda stuff, but it worked for me on numerous occasions. You can get it in the medicine dept at walmart. Good Luck!! |

I once got nailed hard by a bunch of chiggers in high grass in Nashville one evening. You can not imagine how bad something can itch until you've had something like that happen to you. If you're not VERY self controlled, you WILL scratch until you draw blood. And then you'll still be itchy as hell, but in pain, too. CJ |

CJ These things must have spawned from the devils ass since I had used Ortho Scorched Earth Bug Killer a week earlier and our lawn is always mowed low. Do chiggers reside up that high in trees? Next time I guess I will just light the thing on fire and burn it down ARG! |
