AR15.com is proud to announce the AR15.com Multitasker. Here is a detailed write-up on the Multitasker from the product developer: Multitasker Tools LLC is proud to be partnering with AR15.COMâ to offer the ARFCOM-edition AR MultitaskerTM tool. The patent pending AR Multitasker is a versatile multitool with specific components designed for use with AR rifles: · Unique interchangeable tool bit driver system that also functions as a front sight adjustment tool · Backup M4 stock wrench (for tightening the castle nut) · 3/8” box wrench for tension nut adjustment of LaRue TacticalTM mounts · Bent-tip carbon scraper · Chisel-tip carbon scraper In addition, the AR Multitasker is equipped with a pair of needlenose pliers and a 2.5” Tanto-style knife blade with a sturdy liner lock safety. The handles are covered with G10 panels for a sure gripping surface. All metal surfaces are treated with a durable QPQ salt bath nitride finish. BACKGROUND The genesis of the AR Multitasker project began when I was asked to collaborate on the design and production of the Pocketsmith multitool for 1911 pistols by my friend Gary Smith @ Caspian Arms. This is Caspian’s latest version of the Pocketsmith – the pliers also function as a bushing wrench: I had the basic idea of making an AR-centric product that would NOT sacrifice the overall utility of a true multitool. In other words, the goal was to create a tool that would be not be limited to just working on your AR. The basis of the tool would be a good pair of pliers, plus a useful knife. I also liked the concept of an interchangeable bit driver system, as it would greatly extend the utility of the tool and allow for the use of high quality hollow ground tool bits. For those of you that are not looking for a tool with this form factor, stayed tuned for the Multitasker 2 ;) The AR Multitasker project could not have been possible without input from good friends such as ARFCOM members RRice, 1ARNewbie (Mike “Skinny” Mers) and Neil from Gun Gallery in JAX; I can’t thank them enough for their help. PRODUCT DETAILS The needlenose pliers make picking out the bolt carrier cotter pin a breeze: The 2.5” Tanto knife blade is made from 440C stainless; the liner lock safety mechanism is easy to use, even when wearing gloves. The G10 panels provide a true non-slip gripping surface, just like with a good tactical knife. Multitasker Tools is the first manufacturer to offer G10 grips on a multitool, but we probably won’t be the last… The 3/8” box wrench was designed to enable tension adjustment of LaRue Tactical throw levers, but an added benefit is the ability to remove the gas plug on M-14 rifles: The bent-tip scraper, inspired by the Chinese traditional bamboo ear-wax pickers, has a radiused tip that allows it to reach into the base of the bolt carrier. The chisel-tip scraper is at the end of the file; it has a more aggressive profile than the bent-tip scraper. The interchangeable bit driver system really increases the utility of the AR Multitasker. Furthermore, every AR Multitasker tool comes with five (5) DOUBLE-SIDED bits in the sizes most commonly encountered with AR mounts and related accessories (2 slotted screwdrivers, I Phillips screwdriver, T10 Torx, T15 Torx, plus 3/32”, 7/64”, 1/8”, 9/64” and 3/16” hex bits). These bits are hollow-ground from high carbon steel, and feature a ball detent to hold them securely when inserted into the tool bit holder. BTW, we made the bit driver long enough so that you can reach the grip screw – we thought that might come in handy ;) You probably noticed that integrated into the front of the bit holder is a 4-prong front sight adjustment tool: Last but not least, we managed to cram a backup M4 stock wrench in there as well - it was not designed to replace the armorer’s wrench for removing staked in castle nuts, but it can be used to tighten a loose one. Multitasker Tools LLC is proud to be a supporter of Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), and will donate $1 for each AR Multitasker sold to this worthy cause. Quoted: Quoted: What does a person have to do to enter the contest? you gotta buy one to be entered in the drawing to win an ar15.com special edition... So...then I would end up with 2 of the exact same tools (minus the logo)...wow. ![]() Sorry for shitting on the post, but WTF am I supposed to do with 2 of the same thing? ETA: correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it illegal to require someone to purchase something in order to be eligible for a drawing? |

What, no bottle opener? The purpose of a multitool is to allow you to carry several high use tools on you for convenience. They aren't there to replace the individual tools that make them up but to give you access to a version of them when you wouldn't normally bring them along. Other than "operators"(that is the correct term on ar15.com isn't it?) stuck in the sandbox I can't see your average civilian getting a ton of use out of one of these things. I have no knowledge about the manufacturer but $65 puts this "toy" out of my range even if it is high quality. I just can't see using it enough to justify the cost. If they could bring the price point down to around $40 I would think they would sell more. Gearing one of the tools toward proprietary equipment such as the Larue wrench also narrows the potential customer base. Not sure what I would replace it with seeing that the idea of such a tool was foreign to me up until now. I look forward to see what future version include. |
