During the prohibition days the old time gangsters used to refer to Tommy Guns as "Choppers". Why? I don't know, maybe because they'd chop you up, or something...who knows?
Anyway, today Gangstas are calling AKs "choppers". I've seen it a couple times on the news and I even had a thug type at the gun show axe me how much I wanted for my chopper. So what constitutes a chopper these days? Oh, and whoever posts a motorcycle, helicopter or cutlery is a gay. |

Hmmm... I think that the select fire part is inaccurate. I've seen videos where the Neckbone Murder Squad (Compton Crips) were waving around MAK-90s with butthole stocks and calling them "choppas". |

In the Dirty South, choppas are understood to be ak-47's or weapons of similar nature that have their barrels sawed off. This makes the weapon more deadly because it can spray in a larger area than a regular ak-47 or ar-15. |

From what I've seen (and what the fuck do I know), a "chopper" or "choppa", can be any gun that's capable (or looks like it's capable) of full-auto fire.
Or something like that. We're talking about rappers and hood-rats here, not Jane's Infantry Weapons, for Christ's sake. <shrug> |

They refer to them as "choppas" because they supposedly sound like a helicopter while firing full auto. Ironically, 99% of the gang members now-a-days don't have anything fully automatic and have never even seen one, most gang members have straw purchased AK clones or various stolen guns they parade around as "choppas" to intimitade people and impress their friends. You think that's bad? When I lived in palm beach the vermin started calling them "yoppas"...
