I have an Eotech holographic sight on my M&P 15. My question is: do I need to add an Eotech 3x magnifier to it for long range shots, or would I be better off with a co-witness instead. I know one has nothing to do with the other, I just want to hear your opinions on this configuration. Thanks.

Absolutely needed, if you want to be a HSLD Tactical Operator.

NESSESSARY?! Is it nessessary for me to drink my own urine?

NO! But I do it anyway, because it's sterile, and I like the taste.

Seriously though, I tried the magnifier in the past and didn't like it too much, AND if your EO goes down, your stuck.

Go with back up irons, ESPECIALLY because of the short battery life of EO's.

HSLD = high speed, low drag

I would say no on the magnifier.

EE that bastard.

Take the funds and get a low powered scope instead. If you really wanna get funky, piggyback a Dr Optic mini-dot knockoff for the close range stuff.

Superior in EVERY way to a eothingie.

If you want to be tacticool you need to get schooled on the fantastic line of Tapco Products for your AR.

Well no, I am just trying to drum up sales for EOTech.

Personaly, I have the 3x and love it. Makes shooting past 100 yards a breeze even if it is paper. Glass is just as nice as my ACOG only 1x less. Although, im needing an optic for my HK clone and the zf24 is looking quite nice. May sell or trade the 3x for another optic such as another Eotech  zf24 or aimpoint.

You don't need an Eotech magnifier .

What you need is to put that Eotech on the EE and use the cash from the sale for an
Aimpoint .

Before it takes a dump on you and REALLY pisses you off like mine did.

Eotech =Better reticule and fast heads up display until it stops working .

Aimpoint = Not as cool of a reticule but works every time .

Eotecs have a habit of eating batteries. That being said they are great optics. I can reach out 250 yards with mine no problem. Really with a carbine how far do you want to shoot. Take the money for a maginfier and get set up to reload you will thank me later.

I have a 512 on one of my carbines. With no magnification I had a hard time at 400 yds. I put on the 3X magnifier, on a La Rue 602 mount, with a Ma tech sight behind.

If the Eo tech went down, the magnifier flops to the side, and I have use of the iron sights which are co witnessed.

what are you calling long range?  I was shooting steel with a 11.5 SBR with irons.   A2 upper with factory fsb.  Had no problems with steel as small as 4 inches, shooting offhand.

I don't think that they're necessary, but it's up to you.

I took a class one time where we were shooting our carbines out to 400 yards. The weather was perfect and there was no breeze. I was able to hit steel A zone targets out to 400 yards easily with just my EOtech.

I agree with this sentiment. My EOTech took a shit on me at the LaRue Tactical Multigun match earlier this year. I had to shoot the whole fucking match with iron sights.

I love that movie. I say that line all the time!
