In the last year I have seen myself order food with more and more onions. I can now see how your tastes change as you get older (27 here). Who else loves onions in thier food? |
They are great. What's your guys' methods for keeping the sulfurous fumes from getting to your eyes and making them sting though. Sometimes it's not so bad. Othertimes some onions seem to have a stronger vapor. ![]() |

Never, ever ate them until just a few short years ago. Then they had to be raw, then I liked them cooked in things, fast foward two years and I cook all the time with them and can't get enough. I even put about 120 in the garden this year.
I was that way about spicy foods also. I never ate anything spicy or hot, not even mustard up until about 6 years ago. Now I want fire on everything! |

Not only do I love me some onions, but now it's hot peppers too. I used to hate spicy shit, because my mom always pushed it on us. The older I get (and the more beer kills my sense of taste) the more I like spicy food.
I love onions, hot peppers, and my mom, for forcing me to eat them. |

Sauteed in almost everything I eat, plus raw shallots on top of finished goods unless I am going out, then I have to settle for a blander meal. |

and garlic. I love garlic too but I cant get it much, I hate living in Army barracks and eating fast food or dfac food. I have less than 2 weeks left in barracks life though!!!! I had a heat plate to make some good food because I was tired of fast food / DFAC food back when I was a barracks rat. |

Red onions are good for you.
This was cheap grad school food for me more than a decade ago –– salad greens from the garden, a few black olives, some grated cheese, a drained can of tuna, some ranch dressing, and about 1/4 of a thinly sliced red onion. Sometimes I would add cold cooked cowpeas as well. Good for you in lots of ways as long as you don't overdo the ranch dressing. |

I started clearing today so my HHG are already gone (overseas PCS). |

I tried it and it actually works surprisingly well for me. I have no fucking clue why either, it just does. ![]()
