The fake grass that looks real(not the old astroturf) is as expensive as fuck. We got an estimate on it for a small front lawn and it was .

The pollen around here has been crazy, it's covering all our vehicles and the spousal unit and kid are miserable right now.

Funny thing, as I get older, my allergies seem to be lessening. I'm sneezing now and then but I'm not near as miserable as the other two.

My wife is right there with you on the grass pollen hate. It messes her up bad.

Hey, add to that astroturf some of the plastic pine straw and you'll be all set. Plastic yard! Maybe some plastic bushes and flowers too.

Hmmm .... that could be a new business idea! Profit!

You would think that would help, but all it does out here is make the grass grow longer. As soon as this shit dries up, it's all good. I HATE wet springs.

You have grass?  You lucky bastard.

Something called quackgrass is aggressively taking over what was my nice yard.  The only thing that kills it, apparently, is "nonspecific herbicide" –– stuff like Roundup that nukes everything into a dead brown patch.

Try Flonase (or generic) if Claritin no longer works for you.

I find no real side effects with either, your mileage may vary.

Come out west and give the Sage or Western Incense Cedars a try... Nothing like a 150+ foot tall pollen machine to get the non-natives swollen up. Fuckers make your car yellow.

I remember growing up and having the Bay Area tourists just up in arms when they came out in the mornings and their Black and Silver Beamers were bright yellow from parking under a stand for just one night. They were upset and pissed about it, until their allergies kicked in, then they would swell up.

Actually I grew up just outside Salinas CA,never had any trouble;we had some big-assed grass that grew around the area, pull a stalk and shake it at the right time of year and it'll coat everything in some kind of pollen dust....

Love to do that as a kid

Come to AZ. About 90% of yards are crushed rock, most folks just have a small patch of grass in the backyard for kids and pets. Only maintenance is pulling weeds.

Claritin failed for me this year. Now it's zyrtec. The really good stuff is strictly regulated by the .gov. because of the ephedrin.

There's plenty of stuff you can do in a yard that doesn't involve grass. Plenty of stuff that's a hell of a lot easier to take care of too.

I can't see that the allergies come from the grass, if you cut it regularly it's too short to produce anything but clippings. Here, it's all tree pollen, and there's nothing you can do about it, as it blows in from all over.

Zyrtec?  Never tried that one.  Flonase comes recommended by a talking bee, though.  I find it difficult to trust any prescription drugs that lack an endorsement by a talking animated insect.

Claritin was a cruel mistress indeed- right when the drug went generic it stopped working for me.  Why? I dunno.
