Yesterday, after a morning fishing on Chesapeake Bay, we were returning to a marina (along Main Creek).  One of the houses was flying a blue flag, with lots of white stars on it.  The general pattern of the stars was similar to the blue part of the US flag (wasn't close enough to count the stars).  There were no other discernible markings on the flag.

Anybody have any clue as to what this is?  I tried Google and Yahoo, didn't come up with anything.

The former US Navy naval jack.

Since 31 May 2002, all USN vessels fly the "First Naval Jack" instead:

The Secretary of the Navy issued Instruction 10520.6[3], dated 31 May 2002, directing all Navy ships to fly the First Naval Jack as a "temporary substitution" for the Jack of the United States "during the Global War on Terrorism". Most vessels made the switch on September 11, 2002, the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

Sorry to threadjack, but same question.  Did anybody watch UFC last night?  After Machida kicked the ever living shit out of Rashad Evans, he had to flags, the Brazilian flag and then another flag that was red with a big wide white stripe diagonally through the middle and something else on it, maybe a star.  He is half Brazilian and half Japanese, so I don't think it is a national flag.  Any UFC junkies have a clue?

Again, to the OP, so sorry to threadjack,  but I was wondering about that and this seemed like a good chance to ask, what with all the flag experts here.

I think you saw the Brazilian state of Para's flag...maybe he's from there. I didn't see the fight, but just a guess based on your description.
