I know that every place is still backordered and full with orders still, but on gunbroker and other websites such as this, it seems like the prices of ar15 parts are going down a little. I dont know, is the demand dropping from that of a few months ago?

I believe so. Folks can go on spending only so much money buying until it hits a saturation point.

Yea, i really dont think Obamas gonna do much. I never voted for this guy, and im a diehard republican but i think our guns are safe. First of all i think if he was gonna do something he would have done it by now (due to the stupid mexican thing ). Second I think hes worried about the economy (he will never fix it the way he is runnin this country ). And third I think hes just plain scared of us gun nuts. Just my opinion. After a little while maybe the gun prices will slowly come back to normal.

Ban talk is almost null at this point, the drive up was sparked by fear that the new admin and all dem congress would be passing a ban on rifles such as the AR15, because of this people went out and bought them thinking, if I dont buy it now, it might be 4-8+ years until I can again.  All of these buyers way surpassed supply, and manufacturers realized that buying more equipment to produce more rifles per day would be impractical because either A) no ban comes and demand returns to normal B) a ban comes and the equipment is now unusable to build rifles.  A is occurring and demand is drifting back to where it was.

Definitely slowed down...In my opinion it's the combination of less AWB talk and people running out of money in an already bad economy.

That ^ , but I wouldn't get too relaxed about a gun ban in the future. Fox is still running a crawler on the bottom of the screen as recently as last night saying Obama still plans some kind of ban because of Mexican drug gangs supposedly buying guns here. At the very least, they will close the so-called "gun show loophole", which will tighten things down on private sales.

Face it - between him and Pelosi and Reid and Dodd and the Brady nuts, etc., they will eventually try to take our guns away. The best thing we have going for us is that the military isn't on their side like it was on Hitler's and Stalin's.

It seems to me like the demand is already far below the prices.

My local shop has some (which are more than I am willing to pay), various web sites have them (at higher price than I am willing to pay) and I was at a gun show while visiting Texas and they were all over.  Literally, every table had one, even if the guy was selling carved crabapples or some crap.  They were mostly used, so I think people are getting the "other AR" out of the closet to sell.

Nobody bought one all the time I was walking around, though I did see pistols and bolt action rifles being purchased.  The prices were just too high.

Everybody that really wants one for that price has one.

The only thing that can happen from here is the price comes down, how far and how fast is the only question.  If I were a manufacturer, I'd be trying to beat the other manufacturers out the door with my inventory right now, and lowering the price just a little bit to guarantee that if an AR is purchased it's one of mine.

(I am waiting for the price to come down, and have other stuff to do in the mean time.  I don't need to be competing on another caliber of ammo right now anyway.)

I hate to be an optomist when it comes to predicting what our new socialist Political Officer will do, but I have to roughly agree. It would take a good bit of his political capital to get the polut bearu I MEAN, the Congress to pass such a measure, especially considering how many of his party's seats come from middle America and the South.  We must stay vigilent though, letting NO one doubt just how quickly we can turn his term of office into the uphill sh!tfest enjoyed by ole Bill in the last 6-years of his office.

As for demand, I think it was spurred half by new-comers and half by the procrastinating die-hards. Newcomers have either paid too much already, or like my uncle, got a die-hard to help them find a good solid deal. Many of the die-hards have the past prices to remind them that little things can wait, and prices may come down after all.

I just like to think of it like this: In the midst of a deep recession, Obama saved good manufacturing jobs after all- Gun Industry Jobs!

ya, ive seen more AR's and AK's staying on shelves of some gun stores.

but now watch out for ammo.  its becoming scarse and many stores have limits on how much you can buy at one time.  i think they might be a huge tax on ammo, rather than outlawing or banning guns.  ammo is just easier to control than the numerous styles of guns out there.

finally, if the government takes away our guns (which won't happen), they won't be in office the next time they are up for reelection.

just my opinion...........

All the ammo hording is the silliest part of all this to me.   Even if there is a big tax increase, ammo is already at 200% over what is was a few years ago AND...AND....AND....can you tell I'm annoyed......material prices are at HALF what they were a year ago.   Talk about some FAT profit margins for ammo makers.

Slap a 100% tax on ammo and let things get back to normal from a supply & demand standpoint and ammo would STILL be cheaper than it is right now....and I dont see a 100% tax passing....they cant even get that on cancer sticks or alcohol....with no redeeming value whatsoever.

Buy what you need to shoot and wait for the insanity to subside.

I have been watching ammo at wally world and it seems that popular pistol ammo is still not found but 223 has been on the shelves several times in the past 2-3 months.  One can only hope that this economy puts a stop to the hoarding and forces prices back soon........

Yeah it's not just the ammo, but the reloading supplies. Primers have been like the hardest things to come by lately. Now you cant tell me that these companies can't produce enough. What maybe less than 1% of this country's population reloads. I mean a single factory can probably produce billions in like one hour. I think part of this giant gun spree epidemic is partly caused by gun companies trying to jack up the prices. Just another idea.

Obama doesn't have to ban squadush.

Ya'll have effectively banned yourselves and everyone else from ammo AND weapons with all your panic buying. It will be October before I get my Del-Ton kit and I can't find 5.56 ammo at a reasonable price to save my life, so I'm not even sure I want one.
