Well, I need to ship one of my handguns off for maintenance... thing is, I've never had to do this before. Now, I have an understanding of how to ship firearms - I just haven't done it myself yet.

So, who is the best to deal with - FedEx or UPS? Also, I have heard talk lately that one (or both?) is now allowing 2nd-day-air shipments instead of their policy-mandated overnight service, but the info on both of their websites still says that handguns must be shipped using overnight services. So, do they both still insist on overnight delivery?

And no, I'm not just going to say that I'm shipping "machine parts" and let it go ground.

Except that this isn't a state issue in the least... just asking if people have generally had better experiences with one common carrier over the other...

UPS allows Next Day Air Saver, which is a little cheaper than NDA. The only difference is that it's guaranteed by the end of day, instead of 10 AM.
