Bet you thought this thread would be about something cool, didn't you?

Who here plays World of Warcraft?

I signed up for a trial account since GD has been boring the shit out of me lately. I think I need to buy a new gun.

Anyway, I think it is overrated. Looks cool if you want to escape reality for a bit, but lame overall. Maybe its just because I'm an old geezer.

Poll incoming...

So you are in no danger of moving back into your parents basement?

Only players I've ever know had some problems. Keeping a job was one.
I read a story a while back stating that some companies have told their recruiters not to consider WOW players.
One freak I knew (a nurse) admitted to having played 36 hours straight. She would obsess about her groups activities that were coming up and didn't perform well at work and was always worn out from playing all night.
A friend of mine played and when he'd had enough, he sold his character for 1500 bucks. He is a little freaky...

on a side note I have a friend whose girlfriend of 8 years left him for a guy she met on WOW, had never met in person, and lives 2000 miles away.
WOW ruins lives hehe

I don't care how fun WoW or Evercrack might be, those games are for losers.

Oblivion, on the other hand, is for winners.

I played it about 2 years ago for around 2 months.  Totally took over my life like an addiction.  The powers at be in the game suspected that I was buying gold and stripped everything off my characters.  I haven't played since.

Interesting.

I have  co-worker who is a diehard player. I asked him one day what he could sell a character for.
His answer: $2K
My reply: Fucking American Dollars!!!

As fate would have it, this guy carries a couple extra lbs. and lives with his mom. Go figure.

I think I need to stay away from this game.

A guy I shared an apartment with in college for a year was dangerously addicted. He'd play for days straight and then just collapse and sleep. At one point he even had a siezure and went right back to playing after I took him to the hospital. When I parted ways with him, he was failing out of school and facing disciplinary action from the Air National Guard for not showing up for drill on more than one occaision.

It's not called World of Warcrack for nothing.

You must of missed the 65 page thread in the gaming forum. Link

It was fun for awhile. IIRC my guy got to a lvl 30 something or other before I got bored.

I use to play it with my ex. You get to know some pretty cool guys on there. But like anything else there are dicks, losers, racists, and everything else.

It's for people who like doing the same meaningless stuff again and again and again and again thousands of times.

Starcraft ate a year of my life.

These days, I'd rather be making money, getting pie, or shooting.  Priorities change when you get older.

The only WoW guys I knew well were my apartment mates when I was stationed in NOVA.  I try not to be judgmental but it didn't seem like they had much of a life.

My name is USMC6177 and I am a recovering Evercrack addict.  I have been clean for 2 years and 7 months.

That shit really is addictive, it takes you out of the real world and makes you think that some pixels really matter.  Bad JuJu
