Jack Kemp had a bad knee that kept him out of Vietnam. Wasn't bad enough to keep him out of the NFL for five more seasons, was it? Then he went on to become a "Hawk" in his political career.

The bad knee kept him out of the military not necessarily Vietnam. What leads you to conclude he became a hawk only afterwards. Are you privy to some secret files or are you just full of it? Flat feet kept many people out of the military in WWII but that didn't keep them from walking did it? Don't be so quick to look foolish. |

I knew Jack in a round about way; but it had been a long time. He introduced me to the Heritage Foundation. Nice guy. Big heart. Conservative. RIP
Amen to that. The 1996 election was when my political reawakening, from a disinterested ambivalence to hard core conservatism. Jack Kemp destroyyyyyyyyyyyed Al Gore in the VP debate. |

While you were sharing this, I can't help but think that somewhere a turd went un-burgled. Thank you for that much at least. |

Fucking liar. You should be kicked off ar15.com for your statement above. Kemp was born in 1935. He was 18 in 1953, and 20 in 1955. Wikipedia, and the New York Times article on his life, say he served 4 years in the Army Reserves as a private in the late 1950s. By the time major fighting was happening in Vietnam in 1967-69, Kemp was in his 30s, married, with several children at home. Fucking liar, leave this board now. |

Although I know nothing about this situation in particular, speaking empirically I can say that knee injuries are weird things. I can play ice hockey, full contact, no problem. Sitting down in the movie theater: painful. |

Uni-Vibe was a deranged liberal whose ignorance kept him from understanding basic facts. Wasn't bad enought to keep him out of DU, was it? Then he went on to become the joke of ARFCOM for posting nonesense because he couldn't do simple math. |

Can someone hit the report button on this POS ? Mine isn't working. You would think that outright slander would be grounds for a ban. Someone DID report the thread (more than once), but this thread alone isn't bad enough to get him tossed. Is this a cumulative thing? If so, ScaryBlackGuns, Zaphod, and the other lifers can discuss getting him thrown off the island in their forum if he's that bad. I'll abide by their decision. Try to be careful and thoughtful though; getting rid of someone just because you don't like them can turn into a slippery slope...

Just to clarify, we have no such powers as lifetime members, other than our special role in the pit. I am one of those members to casually call for the banning of someone I disagree with and I do not believe in stifling voices of dissension. I believe that AR15.com should be about the free flowing of ideas even if we do not like them. What I do not support is outright slander by a drive-by disposable troll account. If Uni had posted a thread about how much he hated Jack Kemp and was glad he was dead, I would have disagreed, but shrugged like I always do and walked away; that is pretty much how I treat any thread posted by extremists from either side of the political spectrum. However, what Uni did was different in that he purposely published knowingly false information about an individual. We are not talking about a mere oversight, we are talking about purposeful character assassination with no regard for the truth. Thankfully, I am not staff, nor do I have any input on the membership or COC. Thankfully, we leave it to cooler heads to be the final arbiter of eligibility. You could not pay me enough to do the work that the staff and moderators put into this site. I have always been impressed with the professionalism, restraint and thoughtfulness that each has put into this volunteer endeavor. |
