Well, C. Edwards flipped but not in celebration @ Talledega. What do you think of "plates" at the super speedways?
I think they suck, been going to Daytona since 82 in the infield. The restrictor races are ok to watch for the last 40 laps... |

I threw in the towel on Na$car years ago, mostly because the cars are mere cartoons with mfg decals on them and rules are constantly messed with to provide 'fantastic finishes'
Way back in the day, if one company built a good car & motor, they could dominate all season. And the other guys would have to work harder to get back in the thick of things. Now it's just contrived crap. Car of Tomorrow? |

I threw in the towel in 97-98 then went back for the 2001 D-500 (God bless) after that I was hooked again... but the spell is wearing off again..... |

They need to keep the speeds in a range where the safety gear can be effective. But, NASCAR has the rules so tight that it's getting to be a risky situation. Like the yellow line. etc. Without the yellow line rule, you would have much more spectacular crashes as cars tried to either cut corners, and either get loose and go spinning into the wall or get tight and go sliding up head first into the wall (probably taking the huge chunks of the field with them), or have them spread so much in the asphalted infields along the front and back stretches that you would have a helluva merge at number 1 and number 3. |

A similar situation occurred in F1 in the late -80's to early 90's, and basically, the teams with tons of cash used hi=tech to dominate to the point where the ran away with every race, and it got really really boring. Worse, they winning teams got the sponsors, and nobody else could touch them. Really boring. So, there is something to be said for leveling the playing field for the smaller teams. |

I agree.. the Greg Sacks, Lake Speeds and of course Dick Trickles of racing...The result is a "finch" team winning @ Talledega. Keselowski (SP). I would like to see the AVG. speeds up to 205-209 if not more nowa, days with all this "safetech"...... |
