Is there a program I need to scan/save documents in PDF format? I tried scanning a form and PDF wasn't in the list of file types I could save it as. Does ADOBE have the ability to convert into PDF? Thanks. |

I believe that Adobe Acrobat would be the only program that would allow you to save as a .pdf. You would need the full version, not just the reader. This would allow you to scan a document and then PRINT it to the Acrobat PDF Writer which converts it to .pdf. If you have a few documents that you need done I can convert them here at work and e-mail them back to you. |
| Thanks for the offer AmeRican15. I don't have anything to scan right now. I responded to another post and thought I might scan the stuff and e-mail it if it's needed. But..snail mail it is. [:)] I will have to add the full version of Adobe to my list of software to buy though. Thanks again guys. |

If you’ve got a BestBuy nearby, look for a copy of OmniPage Pro 11, upgrade edition, for $99. You need to have some form of OCR software on your computer to begin with (and it sounds like you do). Read the package before buying. Here’s a link, but they don’t have it mailorder right now. http://www.bestbuy.com/Software/Detail.asp?e=11077121&m=1023&Cat=1040 This software will let you save scanned documents in many formats, including PDF, Word, and WordPerfect. (I’ve only used it for Word personally). For particulars on the software, see http://www.scansoft.com/products/omnipage/pro/ Full list price is almost $500. Edited to note that this generic upgrade is no longer available on ScanSoft's website. You still might be able to find it on somebody's shelves. The retail for the generic update was $150 - I think BestBuy has it mismarked (but I did get a copy from a local store for $99.) |
