I went to a pawn shop that I have never been too and picked up a dandy little revolver for my birthday.
Talked the guy behind the counter down $100. I suspect it was made in the 1900's...as it has that turn of the century look to it...and craftsmanship. The cylinder just locks SOLID..with ZERO movement when the hammer falls It has some honest finish wear and a few scratches, but damn the polish on the bluing is like a mirror finish... The fine, rounded crosshatch on the hammer, the rollmarks, the fit and finish... Modern computer controlled machines just cannot produce the level of quality, fit and finish. For the $399 I paid for it, it's a bargain I need a cigarrette after I'm done looking at it...it's like great sex It's serial # 59XX Patent dates of 1884, 1900 and 1905... I hear some of these are in .22 WRF (a turn of the century .22 variant for which ammo is still produced) Mine just says cal .22 and .22LR fits just fine...so I assume it's in .22LR? When was it made...can someone look this up for me? Picks to follow in a few minutes here |

Just to pricy for my blood. I have both cylinders for mine... It's a cute little revolver....my little girl will get it when she gets old enough. I think I paid under $400 for the one in the picture...it's not pristine though...but barely been fired. |
If I'm not mistaken that is the Police Positive Target model. Much more scarce than the standard model. Do a little research, maybe a letter to Colt would enhance it's provenance too. The last one of these I saw at a collectors show was in the $900 range and that was a couple of years ago.

Post enough of the serial number, and I'll check my Colt book for year of manufacture if you want.
Colts are cool. I own a 1917 .45 acp wheelgun, a wartime Official Police, and a Police Positive Special .38 special. Good guns, the lockwork can be a bit fragile, and many of these old guns have been used to death. Colt revolvers were the most popular for literaly decades. |

BTW: Let me know if the kit gun comes up for trade or sale. |

Previous poster said it was made in 1911 and by using the same reference he posted, my Officer's model as made in 1930. The lockwork on this Police Positive is in excellent shape...has some honest finish wear, but doesn't seem to have been fired a lot. |
