Hello all,
Ive been lurking in the shadows around here for a while now, trying to get a feel for the good folks here at ar15. I like it here, think ill stay a while. Anyways first post easy question.....yea right. My son has an argument to write for his col english class and has chosen open carry as his topic, so what do you think allow open carry on not? for the record I carry a Sig and my son a Taurus, although we have to keep them conceiled |

OC is a RIGHT, soem here believe it is a bad idea, their reaction is nowhwere near most people in societies who will freak at the sight of a gun in OC. Some think it is a good idea, nonetheless, it is a RIGHT, we have the RIGHT where applicable to utilize and exercise it.
For those that freak out when seen, It was said somewhere before, I think Freud, Those that are afraid of guns have strong sexual immaturuty. If you choose to not voice your right, YOU WILL LOSE IT. Just because the paranoid un educated and informed think it is bad, evil, or illegal, doesnt make it. CC is better, but OC is still law in many states. Check the AG site for the law and opinion, you can usually obtain a letter stating the opinion from him/her if requested. |

I would, if we had the choice here in TX....
Anyone arguing that it makes you a target has it backwards. There are umpteen million sheeple everywhere unarmed. Thinking a criminal would spot you open carrying, and still choose to rob an you... a person that for all they know could be a LEO, over an unarmed person is naive, and wrong. |

Since you're trying to help your son with a topic, maybe he can help you with your spelling. Good way to start, you'll scare him off! OP, make sure your son's teacher is smart enough to not dock him points for topic choice. Beyond that I think open carry is best left to home turf (such as work, the house, and the great outdoors) and cops. I am not an expert, but I do think its easier to retain something no one knows you have. However, the case for legalizing it is simple... It doesn't inherently hurt anyone so it's no one else's business what you do with your own gun. |

Posted in GD: check. Controversial topic: check. Bad grammar/spelling: check. etc, etc... |

Well.....Depending on the teacher, he could get an F. I know I had a teacher or two at community college who would fail you if you talked against democrats or ideologies. In Ethics class (A.K.A. The how to be a Liberal class) I got slaughtered with why people should own guns. I should have known better. I was by myself in that class, I learned that you dont ever put up a fight against 20 people.

Blah. I was around since last August, reading for news leads and such from time to time. That and I liked the overall attitude here. Not always, but...mostly. So I finally made an account last month. ((shrugs)) Take it or leave it, and remember what the first 3 letters of assumption spell LOL
But...by the same token, I expect folks to be 'leery' of new folks coming around...with any forum. |
