| Most of the Congresslizards live to serve their own ass. They have no prevailing goals other than accumulating favors, bringing money back to their district and getting reelected. To do this they have to walk a fine line between serving their party and the agendas of their ideological comrades and keeping their popularity up with the sentiments of their constituents. Often times, the interests of the party and the public don't coincide. The rank and file reps supported that ridiculous spending bill a few weeks back, earning them points with their leadership, but they're starting to realize that the voters aren't happy with them. They're going to start looking to cover their own asses, and that means avoiding any controversial legislation that would piss off the people that will reelect them. Looking at the volume of firearm sales alone is sending a strong message. |

Hard to tell since he has so many things happening all at once, then next month he is starting on immigration, and on that one he will have a BIG fight. Blue Dog democrats and even several black congress people are against it, and of course conservatives and many independents. |
| Of course not, except one day it'll be introduced in congress and the media will be talking about how hard of a time he's having getting it through. We'll go to bed thinking all is well, and then the next day we'll wake up and we'll have the 2009 Assault Weapons Ban. |
