good, bad and the ugly let me hear it. thanks |

Positives: Great traction and driveability, quattro, interior nice, relatively affordable for what you get
Cons: Chickmobile, masculinity in question if driving ( unfortunate since its otherwise a great car) So if you don't care about cons above, then by all means buy it, especially if in a snow prone climate. Had an audi once, best driving car ever |
I'm sure it's an absolute blast to drive, and I don't consider the TT a "chick car". Apparently, I'm the only one. ![]() That said, I'd be wary of a sports car with 90K on it––you know that it's been beat to hell already and that parts are starting to fail. Expensive, imported parts. |

I'm sure it's an absolute blast to drive That's the problem with the first generation TT. It is NOT a blast to drive. When I was car shopping, I really wanted to like the TT. But every time I test drove one, it just didn't deliver the mail. I drove them all, 180hp & 225hp, two- and all-wheel drive. They all let me down. The car is based on the Golf chassis and it shows. It does not drive, ride and handle like a sports car. But, if you are looking for a cool looking car that drives like a front wheel drive econo-box, then you might like it. |

I used to own one, and the 1.8T is a great engine and used in many applications, so you wouldnt think parts should be that much. I owned mine for about a year and a half and had no real issues. I bought mine at 56,000 and the first thing I did was replace the timing belt and waterpump. Its a very common EARLY failure. I think audi says around 100k...but people have seen them go at 60k.
Other than that, I had the bypass valve for the turbo go out...that was under $50. Gas and oil changes were all i needed to do. I got out when it was at 85k... I know the prices of some of those TT's can be attractive for what you get, but their reliability is an issue from what I hear. I dont think the interior was cramped at all, I'm 6'2 and fit fine, interior is excellent, cool styling, subpar performance. Was quattro but drove like a FWD car, poor steerng feel. |

I have had three Audi's since 98, they were great cars, but the one I ended up buying at the end of the lease started to break right after warranty ended. With less than 50k on it I spent over $4000 on repairs.
The only way I would get another would be to lease it and turn it in at the end. |
