I just built up a S&W M&p lower with a stag parts kit.
The problem I'm having is that the selector switch is very rough and requires a lot of force to move from safe to fire and vice versa. Ive put a few hundred rounds through it and have exhaustively worked the selector and it hasn't changed much. Any ideas? |

Quoted: Is it possible that you overtightened the pistol grip screw? If that is overtightened, the selector can be harder to manipulate. This. Discovered it at a class with a new-to-me rifle (no rifle ranges near me) Had a non-spec allen head bolt holding my grip in place, and it wound up where the selector essentially wouldn't... even after shortening the spring as a try at a field-expedient fix. Seems it was just about 3mm too long. Replaced it with a standard length machine screw and? GTG... Thanks Sully. |

Make sure there isn't anything stuck in the pistol grip's selector spring hole, I've had plastic burrs there before that would cause the spring to seat too high (temporarily at least). You might need to chop a few coils if your detent is shaped right - only clip a couple at a time since you can't put them back. (you'll need good snippers, cheap wire cutters won't do it, they'll just bend it out of shape) One build I did with a Stag lower & Double Star LPK was almost impossible to rotate the selector at first and after a few hundred cycles while watching TV it only got a little better, clipped a few coils and it was GTG. |
