Since I am stuck at work on my day off and this is what I do for a living, can I just use my rigid body FEM program ? sum of forces in the X direction = 0 sum of forces in the Y direction = 0 sum of moments about any point = zero and as a hint, use one of the reaction points as the point to take the moments about so one of the reactions generates zero moment, 3 equations, 3 unknows, take it from there |

Since it's all pinned, it shouldn't be statically indeterminate.
Just use the laws of summation of x and y forces = 0, summation of moments at a pin = 0, a free-body diagram and some trig. Hint: The forces at pin A are the same as at the wheel so FxC + FxB = -1.6kN; FyC + FyB = -4.0 kN. Use trig to find the x and y moment arms around pin A for the x and y force components at C and B and then take the summation of moment around pin A = 0 to set up your equation and then crunch the numbers. |
