| I am currently deployed to Baghdad and have been here for about half a year. (1ID) Anyways I'm not asking for any gratitude replies, I just have a question. While I am here I am really worried about my guns back home. Right now I have a Sig 556, a PS90, and a metric crap-load of ammo at my parents house. They don't keep their house locked up because they live way out in the country. However, with all the talk about the economy I am getting kind of worried about someone breaking into their house and stealing my guns. What should I do with them? They have insurance and all, but in this day and age it's really hard to replace these kinds of guns. Can anyone suggest where I could take them? They live on a couple thousand acres or so of land and I have seriously considered burying them. It just sounds kind of hoaky to me. Any suggestions? |

Buy a big solid safe and have them put the guns in it? Im sure you must have a friend at home that could help. +1 A big solid safe was one of the best investments I ever made. Gave me wonderful piece of mind. Even more once I bolted it to the concrete slab. |
| Thanks for the replies. The only people I know that have safes are not really ones to trust with that much $ in firearms/ammo. I might buy one on leave though. I might give the tether a try. I actually have a giant wire tether that I used to use to lock my dirt-bike into the bed of my truck. That would at least be better than leaving them unsecured. Thanks again. |

dig deep and oil them up, Sell them to me. your choice. I have 4 burried but I know they will be there when I might just need one or more. If thats nuts I am guilty.Thank you for all that you are doing. LOL I do not find that crazy at all. I just have serious concerns about corrosion and whatnot. I have heard everything from a ventilated pelican case to tuff boxes to bury them in. I just don't want to dig them up in a few months and find them covered in rust and in a pool of water. Being OPSEC minded: I am going home on leave "before too long" so pretty much I have until then to figure out what to do. |

usaa the insurance company for military will insure your guns and valuables.
if they are stolen no questions asked you get the full value of the gun. you just tell them how much its worth, so tell them the price you would need to replace it today. the monthly cost depends on the value. theres some other rules that apply as well ull have to look into. may be easier and less stress. |
