Our stepson joined the ANG about a year ago and now syas he wants to go full time AF, but says to do that you have to pay back your ANG bonus to the ANG first so he can't.

Is that correct or do they have something where they could do like a payroll deduction after the change?

Or is it possible I am just being told a tale?

Any help appreciated.....

Talk with an AF recruiter (don't just send him - you go too!).

Ensure any promises made by the recruiter are in writing (standard rule when dealing with a recruiter).

My opinion: A bonus is given in return for a promise to serve a designated period of time.  My gut says that the bonus would be repaid (prorated) for the unfulfilled portion of his contract.  However, it's just my opinion.

I'm assuming he blew the bonus money.

I was young once, too.

It took me a while on my own to learn responsibility.  I didn't think my parents knew what they were talking about until life had knocked me around for a few years.

You could say I grew up in the Air Force.
