Is ebay some kinda hippie type MSNBC organization or something? I tried to sell a Midwest Industries carry handle mount and they sent me this:

You recently listed the following auction-style listing:

220376537004 - Midwest Industries Carry Handle Mount

Unfortunately, we had to remove your listing because the following information violates our policy:

The sale of any assault weapon-related parts or accessories is not permitted on eBay because selling these items is highly regulated by the government or may be illegal in some areas.

This prohibition applies to all parts and accessories related to any firearm defined as an "assault weapon" by federal or California law.

Please refrain from relisting this item or similar item that would violate this policy.

For more details on assault weapons, please visit
http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/awlist.htm and http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/genchar.htm.

The listing stated "for mounting optics on your A2 style AR". What the fuck? Fuck ebay. This shit has gone too far. Needless to say I have closed my account and will be putting this mount in the EE.

P.S. Fuck ebay.

You should NEVER mention "real" firearms descriptions in your eBay auctions. Certain words are apparently flagged and eBay will shut down the auction for using them. You can skirt by their BS policy if you word your listings just right.

On the off-chance that you're serious about this:

eBay has had this policy, to one degree or another, for at least a few years. This is not news. Hence, "welcome to 2007," as in "this might have been more surprising 2 years ago, maybe."

There are thousands of listings for AR accessories on ebay right now. How the would anyone ever know a cantilever mount is prohibited when I've purchased many other things for my AR from them? Are you trying to say this is common knowlege? I guess I need to make some notifications to to sellers I've used for years now. Just to keep them out of trouble.

FUCK EBAY

I said "A2 style AR". Dont they make airsoft ARs? If I said "Assault Rifle" then you got me. But the thought police filled in their own blank and pulled the listing.

Is there something about my post that makes you think I'm joking? Is there a humorus or comical tone to the post? Is there an off-chance you could reply with helpful information as opposed to trying to sound pompus?

YES I'M SERIOUS.

Its an old policy, some get nailed for it, as you did and some dont get caught.

I had a boycott on them for a while now. I was sick of their shit like 2 years ago.

Fuckin hippies.

eGay has had bans on anything firearm related for quite some time.

It has been thorougly discussed on ARFCOM.  I believe you will find that most people here have already stopped using eGay.  So, calling for a boycott seems a little silly at this point.

There are just about every AR part for sale on ebay right now, muzzle brakes, FH, mounts, handguards, sights, stocks, buffer tubes, ect ect. They just dont list what they go on. People that search "h buffer" know what the hell they are looking for, So why list it as "H buffer for AR/M4" ect. You put A2 style AR, which flaged the mods. Now your here bitching and wanting to boycott eBay.

This has been beat to freakin death. Some good deals can still be had on eBay if you know how to find them. Its really not worth the trouble trying to sell the gun parts on eBay, when we have this big ass EE right here.

The fact that you're flying off the handle over something that's been widely known in the eBay and firearms communities does, in fact, lead me to believe that your post is not necessarily 100% face-value sincere, yes.

It'd be like a Democrat just now finding out that GWB got re-elected in 04 and going on a rant at DU. They'd probably (or, they might if they were remotely rational, which I've never really seen them do) say something like "yes, it sucks, but this isn't anything that we didn't already know."

Just taking advantage of the thread to say Ebay sucks

paypal too

I try not to use it at all and only for used stuff that I can't find anywhere else. The first time I got mad at Ebay I stopped using it completely for an entire year, now I buy or sell may'be 5 or 6 times a year tops.

if you can buy bomb mak...i mean chemistry supplies there, whats wrong with firearms parts?

I like ebay for some things (like counterfeit electronics batteries and old used things)...but now a days, many things are cheaper from a store because of shipping and everyone thinking they can strike it rich by starting an ebay store.

you must clearly state in the auction that it is NOT a firearm and will not allow any bullets to be fired or ebay will automatically pull the auction from the listings.

ETA:

i've bought a knock-off QC muzzle brake from ebay so it's entirely possible to list items for REAL firearms, you just have to explain clearly that YOUR item is NOT going to make the gun fire and it can't be modified to do so.  accessories are perfectly legit to sell on there so long as you don't mention that it's for an evil black rifle.  your "A2 and AR15" are likely the reasons the auction got pulled.  list it as a carry handle mount and you will be good to go.  also don't link anything to midwest industries

Now, if you start replying to that email, cussing them like some deadbeat POS, and demand that yo get an uncanned response from them... You get your account locked.

It happened to me when they canceled my ac-556 factory folding stock listing.
The auction closed 2min before it closed at $750.01

You sound like one of the brainiacs who use Paypal for gun stuff, then are shocked when the funds get held or whatever by Paypal. Using an anti-RKBA site to carry out RKBA buisness is just stupid.

What about all those eotech or acog sights for sale?

Funny you wrote this, Ebay owns paypal and I have been using the paypal virtual debit card to purchase all my firearm needs. The virtual card generates a new number everytime I use them and deducted it from my checking account. Every once in a while, they would call and ask, "Did you buy something from so and so Firearms". I answer yes and they just let it go.

Just a reminder, Pay-Pal is owned by eBay, and is just as firearm unfriendly.

I have never used eBay for anything, for this very reason.

i know ebay is not firearm friendly.  that is all the more reason to use their website to purchase/sell firearm accessories.  duh?

I remember when you could buy complete AR15 uppers, even surplus GI M16a1 uppers for awsome prices on eBay, maybe 4 or years ago.
I bought a lot of CETME magazines on ebay too, back in the day.

My how times have changed with the spread of the disease of liberalism.

Kicked Ebay and Paypal to the curb a while ago:

Post Here If You Gave The Boot To Ebay And/Or Paypal

ETA:

Here's my email to them:

To: eBay Customer Support

From: backstop73

Subject: Account Closure Request

Close my account.

In consideration of your anti-gun stance - and now your anti-reloading supplies stance - I will cease all shopping on Ebay, and will close that account along with my PayPal account.

I will continue to use your site as a resource if I decide to shop for an item, but I will contact the vendor directly rather than use Ebay as an intermediary.

Signed,

Backstop73

Their definition is so open ended that any rifle scope would be prohibited since it could probably be adapted for use on an AR or AK or some other 'assault' rifle.  Yet, I see all kinds of rifle scopes and accessories on ebay.  What a bunch of hypocrites.
