I'm looking at some scopes that have illuminated recticles. Some are illuminated in red, some in green, and some even have blue recticles. What color is the best for low light conditions? What color is the worst? Or do they all work as good as the other? Thanks. |

Theoretically; due to the red/green shift of the night vision of the human eye which causes green objects to appear brighter than red objects in darkness, a green reticle "should" be superior to a red one in low light conditions.
At least that's the theory behind green reticles. |

Red is nice- how is Amber though? I just bought a Trijicon reflex site in Amber (mail order) and couldnt look at it first. Is Amber ok? Not a fan of the amber. Can blend in with surroundings to easy, and sunset/sunrise. But that is just my opinion. I am partial to the reds. They pretty much stand out against anything. |
