| I got rid of one jackass neighbor finally. He went to jail for beating his wife and kids. He's been gone a month. The cops came to the house yesterday. My new neighbor just got out of prison. He raped a 7 year old girl. I have a 7 year old daughter. Why in the purple fuck do people like this mother fucker ever get out of prison? |

ouch...that sucks! I think I would rather have the wife beater living next to me. That is a flaw in the system. Might be time to do a functions check on your home security weapons. His ACTUAL next door neighbor (I'm 1000 yards away, only 5 of us live in the 500 acre neighborhood) has a 6 year old daughter. He said he using the flyer for archery practice every time the guy is home. The cops all know me and what I'm about. They suggested having all my like minded friends over for a group shoot without cans. |
| The best way to deal with this is to go introduce yourself to your new neighbor. During the conversation let him know that you know why he was in prison. Also let him know that there are people in the neighborhood that don't like criminals and that he better be real careful and polite. Confronting people and letting them know where you stand is a lost art. |

Thats a good idea....but these sick people might be the nicest people you know until five minutes before they commit a crime when all of a sudden they get the strong urge to rape some kid, and they'll do it even if they know some dad will kill them tomorrow. They're so fucked in the head you cant reason with them. |

I had some meth-head neighbors a few years ago that were going around breaking into cars in my neighborhood. I changed from a CCW holster to a drop leg when I was around the house and made sure they saw it.....didn't have any trouble with them. Of course that is only a deterrent and not a solution. I also agree with the above comment.....tell that dude straight up that you know what he did and that you will not tolerate it around your neighborhood. |
| He knows we know. Like many states, we mandate that the police inform everyone of who you are, what you did, etc etc. I basically know the guys life story. I have his name, birthdate, rap sheet, etc. We also let the good ole boy we're buying the land from know what was up. He sounded really mad for a minute, then laughed, and said "I thought he hadn't made his land payment this month *tearing sound*, guess I'll have to start eviction proceedings" Of course, where I'm from, that can take several months when you have an ironclad case. |

Yea, I'd confront the guy, nicely, let him know he will be watched. That no one will harass him, but if something were to happen he will be the first confronted. Make sure he knows that no one means him any ill will (at least say this), but all the neighbors are gun owners and it a close nit community that looks out for one another. And although no one believes in any illegal activity, most do believe in the strict definition of JUSTICE.
Flip side...you know where you can find a babysitter...cheap

Vancouver just lost a young girl to a repeat offender on parole. Without overtly threatening the dude so you don't get in trouble, I would make it clear that his final moments would not be pleasant and his body would never be found. |

I wouldn't get in trouble anyway. The way things work where I live are different than most are used to. I could walk onto his porch with an AR slung, and in front of his entire family tell him that if he even looks at my kid funny I'll put one through his head, AFTER I torture him to the brink of death several times over the period of several days and then walk away. The entire family and him could point out who I was and where I lived and I wouldn't go to jail, much less be convicted of anything. The only thing the cops would have to say about it is asking me to do it on someone else's shift so they don't have to do the paperwork. If something happened, and the guy did come up missing or dead, the investigation would get lower priority than a stolen huffy. I'm not saying I'd do any of that, and I'm not saying it's right. But in some parts, that's just how it is. They guy moved to where he's at now because he couldn't take the harrassment anymore and the cops wouldn't do anything about it where he was. He picked the WRONG direction to move. |

As much as I believe in the Rule of Law, deep down I question why wife- and child-beaters, much less child rapists, even GET to prison. Agreed. If convicted, rapists, child molesters, or those involved in child pornography should be hung and left to rot. |
