Any way to contact them by phone?

I'm getting added as a "friend" tonight by  several people and I don't even have an account there. I'm thinking a buddy of mine has set up an account in my name is and playing a trick on me.

What say ye?

You would have to drop them an e-mail if anything I would think.

Thats pretty messed up, I would be pissed.

Seriously? You think I should be pissed off about this?

I was just looking at it as a joke and minor inconvenience.

They own your database.

Be careful about all these online deals.  Might be fun now, but that day is coming when this shit gets out of hand.

Google too.

Mark my words.

I, for one, am not a fan of my personal information, contacts, photos and messages being centrally located and tightly coupled with my real name and my friends' real names.

Ever consider that it's just phishing spam?

You friends may have chosen to let Facebook send invites to EVERYONE in their email address book. I declined that option, but some people accept it. IF they do, then it sets up a 'placeholder' account for you.  It sounds like that's what happened.

Not really.

Do they sell your info?

Oh, so he let them set up a "placholder" in my name, but I don't really have an account there?

Then why is everyone I knew from high school suddenly adding me as their "friend"?

I didn't trust it at first.  But now I find facebook to be a very useful networking/communications tool.

Post the link. Enough people mark it spam, it'll automatically be locked/deleted.

+1  I got 2-3 Facebook-labelled phishing scams every week before I even joined.

Are you finding out about these new friends by email to you from facebook?  if you are, the email address for the account is yours. Try to log in to the page, when you can't, click the "forgot password" option and they will send you new log in info.  You can then log in, change password, delete or cancel the account and problem solved.

I tried the reset thing and got this: Unregistered Email
The email address you entered has not been registered.

He must have done what a poster said earlier. Started a placeholder or whatever.

I know plenty of people who have set up fake facebook accounts for people and I know plenty of people that have had it done to them.  Pretty fuckin immature if you ask me.  If anyone did it to me I'd be pissed.

Facebook has an option for its users to allow them access into their personal email allowing facebook to record all the users email contacts in their personal account and spam the shit out of all those people looking to generate new users by placing your email in their search and "possible friend database", guarantee that's what happened to you. Facebook = MASSIVE FUCKING FAIL, really bad idea for all those sheep to put all their personal and family info out for the whole world to see.
